Chapter 119 The Professor Who Will Not Stay Long
Chapter 119 The Professor Who Will Not Stay Long
There were quite a lot of people at the bar, so it would probably take some time for Draco and Ron to come back after ordering.
Hermione pursed her lips and glanced at Draco's conspicuous back, "I will try my best to be patient Gloria."
"He also felt that he was enduring it." Gloria chuckled and said, "We will rarely sit together like this in the future. Thank you."
"Gloria." Harry asked in a low voice, "Sirius is in Azkaban, how did he know about Ron's family winnings? Can the criminals in there read newspapers?"
Gloria lowered her eyes and shook her head. "There is no light in Azkaban. There are only Dementors and other prisoners. He was able to see the newspaper. Fudge happened to bring the newspaper with him when he went to inspect, and he saw that page of the report."
"You have to bring a newspaper during an inspection..." Hermione's impression of Fudge was discounted. "But Professor Lupin is better than Pettigrew anyway. Why did Sirius suspect him of being a spy before?"
After nearly a school year of contact, everyone felt that Professor Lupin was very nice, serious and patient, and that he was the first time they learned truly useful Defense Against the Dark Arts.
Harry picked at his fingers. "If the Secret-Keeper is Professor Lupin, perhaps..."
"No." Gloria denied it immediately. Facing the two people's puzzled expressions, she continued, "Professor Lupin is a werewolf. At that time, most of the werewolves followed Voldemort. Even if Professor Lupin did not have that intention, he had to transform once a month. If he was caught by the Death Eaters at that time, his werewolf companions would have the opportunity to ask for confidential information. The result would be the same, and it would make him very painful."
A werewolf only loses control when transforming, and when he returns to normal he still remembers what he did when he transformed.
"Werewolf?!" Harry didn't know this at the moment, "How could it be, he is a werewolf?" He looked at Hermione.
"Oh, I forgot you didn't know that Professor Lupin is a werewolf. Didn't you realize that?" Hermione said, "From this point of view, only Gloria and I could see it."
"How did you know that?" Harry asked.
"He misses classes every month and is very weak when he comes back." Hermione explained, "Every time he misses class, it's around the full moon night. And Professor Snape's homework on identifying werewolves is a hint to us."
"That homework..." Harry touched his nose, "I was so busy with training that I barely did it."
"Werewolf?" Draco heard this as he approached the small table with two glasses of butterbeer in his hands. "Thieves and liars are not enough, now we have a werewolf to teach. Great--!"
"We have wolfsbane potion." Gloria comforted him, "Everything has been fine since the start of school, except for missing a few days every month."
Ron also came back with a butterbeer. "Where were you talking about?"
"Heh..." Draco said in a cold tone, "Talking about the werewolf professor."
"Werewolf? The werewolf in the Forbidden Forest escaped?" Ron asked with inexplicable worry.
Hermione covered her face with her hands, but Harry had to explain to her, "Professor Lupin is a werewolf, so he misses classes every month."
"Merlin—" Ron exclaimed, "I can't tell."
Gloria said, "Given the feud between Professor Snape and them, Professor Lupin will probably only stay until the end of this school year."
"How can this be possible?" Hermione didn't understand. "Although Professor Lupin is a werewolf, his classes are very good."
Draco said in a cold tone: "Perhaps after seeing him transform, you won't think so."
"Of course this matter must be kept secret." Gloria held Draco's hand. "It's hard to find a professor for this position, and it's not long before the end of the school year."
The argument that was about to arise was instantly eliminated. Hermione took a sip of butter beer and said, "I have to go back early today to help Neville write a letter of explanation. Crookshanks took the password note and gave it to Sirius. It's not Neville's fault."
"Why do you have to write down the password? Is the password to the Gryffindor dormitory very complicated?" Gloria had wanted to ask this before.
"After Sirius tore up the Fat Lady's canvas, she didn't want to come back," said Harry. "So Sir Cadogan was replaced. He set up a lot of passwords, so Neville wrote them down on slips of paper."
The five men finished their butterbeer and separated at the bar.

Before the Easter holidays, Headmaster Dumbledore returned.
When Gloria arrived at the office, Harry was already there and they must have chatted for a while.
"You're here, Gloria." Dumbledore patted the chair across the table. "Come sit here."
"How did the trial go at the Ministry of Magic?" Gloria asked him.
"After a few days of hard work, it's finally over. Pettigrew has already pleaded guilty and has no way to defend himself." Dumbledore's blue eyes behind his half-circle glasses shone with joy. "You are now at the trial site at the Ministry of Magic. You only need to answer whether the situation is true or not. This case only has the final trial left. If things go well, Sirius will be able to come out safely."
Harry said excitedly, "Great!"
Headmaster Dumbledore nodded and said, "Harry, go back first. I have something to say to Gloria."
Harry nodded and stood up to leave.
Dumbledore and Gloria were the only ones left in the office. The portraits on the wall stopped pretending to sleep and opened their eyes one by one to look at the current situation.
What happened between Sirius and Pettigrew a few days ago made Phineas anxiously await the outcome.
"When did you go to Azkaban?" asked Dumbledore.
"During the Christmas holiday in my second year," Gloria said, "I went to see Sirius after I learned the truth about my father's sacrifice."
"Sirius told me something." Dumbledore nodded and said, "You can control Dementors, right?"
Gloria did not deny it. The portraits on the wall were whispering that when the Dementors were first discovered, the wizards found some surviving manuscripts which described some methods of controlling them, but they were all transactions in nature and there was no real control.
"I didn't investigate the strange noises the students made on the train because I knew they were made with good intentions." For this reason, he didn't mention it in his speech at the beginning of the semester. "You asked me to pay attention to the Dementors during the first Quidditch match, so I roughly guessed that the noises on the train must have been made by you."
"Headmaster Dumbledore, do you remember the portrait frame with a completely black background in the portrait room of my manor?"
"Remember." He memorized almost every face in the portrait.
"That was Extis. After he died, my snakes brought his body back to the manor. Since Slytherin snakes are mainly responsible for the heir, some manuscripts were left on the island." Gloria said slowly: "I told them not to get close to Sirius' cell at the time because I didn't want him to go crazy too early. But the reason he managed to escape was because of his Animagus and his strong will. He was still able to transform at that time."
"Sirius has informed the Ministry of Magic of the escape," Dumbledore said. "We will keep this a secret."
"I'm not afraid of being exposed," she said, "I just don't want to deal with the Ministry's suspicions."
"Petty has pleaded guilty, but the Ministry of Magic seems to want to hold Sirius accountable." Dumbledore clasped his hands together and placed them on the table. "If he is completely acquitted, it will have an impact on the credibility of the Ministry of Magic."
Gloria stared at the table and said, "When that day comes, I will help speak up."
Dumbledore didn't say anything else. He raised his hand and took out a handful of candy from the box next to him and handed it over. "You are the only one who comes to my office who is willing to take more candy."
