Chapter 207 Day 1 Lessons
Chapter 207 Day 1 Lessons
On the first day of class, it rained heavily outside.
Gloria packed her things and went to the lounge. She came out quite early and there were not many people here.
Her luck was not good. She saw Crabbe, Pansy and the others. They formed a new small group and looked at her with malicious intent.
"Gloria, you have to be careful." Pansy's eyes flashed with malice, "Tell Draco that if the Malfoy family is willing to come back, the adult will mercifully forgive them."
"Which sir?" Gloria asked knowingly.
Pansy frowned, "You know."
Gloria stared at them quietly, "Who? Tell me his name."
But no one dared to say Voldemort's name, not even the name of the mysterious man, and everyone kept their mouths shut.
Seeing them like this, Gloria sneered, "The Ministry of Magic is interfering in the school this year. As a prefect, I don't want to see the people in Slytherin College do stupid things, especially listening to Umbridge's words and doing stupid things."
Daphne seemed to have finally found an opportunity, "Maybe we should tell the new professor what you just said."
Gloria didn't care at all. "Go ahead and tell me. If you do something stupid, I will think of a punishment of confinement. It won't be in school, but it will be a blow to your family business. Will your adults come forward to help you recover your lost property?"
She won’t deduct credits from the same college, but it’s not difficult to collect the assets of several families outside the school.
It can be said that this punishment hit the pain point and successfully made them quiet down.
A group of people were humiliated. Crabbe and Goyle, who only knew how to fight and bully others, did not dare to attack her. What happened to Avery in the second grade was still fresh in their minds. In the end, they could only leave the lounge angrily.
Gloria calmly smoothed her robe and casually glanced at the students who were watching the whole process not far away. Several of them turned away in fear.
The first class today is Transfiguration, and I take it with Ravenclaw.
"You are in your fifth year this year. I believe you all know about the OWL exam. The certificate you obtain not only determines the scope of your future career choices, but there is also the seventh-year Advanced Wizarding Level exam. Only if you get good grades in this exam can you continue to study some courses."
When the bell rang, Professor McGonagall told the students this.
"So no matter what, we must cheer up this year and put all our energy into studying seriously. I don't want anyone to be so careless and not get a certificate!"
Gloria sat in the front row on the right, and the left side was full of Ravenclaw students, all of whom were able to listen attentively to Professor McGonagall's teachings.
After talking for more than ten minutes about the importance of the OWL exam, Professor McGonagall finally remembered the important matter of teaching them.
"Well, I hope you remember my words. In the fifth grade, you will be exposed to more advanced spells, and the courses will no longer be limited to changing things into another form, such as the spell we learned today - the Vanishing Spell."
"Watch my demonstration carefully." Professor McGonagall took out a snail that had been shrinking in its shell from a silver plate and pointed her wand at it. "Deletrius."
The snail's body quickly faded in color and then disappeared.
This demonstration made the students very curious. Did the snail really disappear? Can it turn back?
"You will start practicing with the simplest snail. Whoever successfully casts the spell in today's class will be exempt from the homework for this class."
We all know from senior students that fifth graders have a lot of homework.
This reward has made many people excited and they are ready to work hard to achieve success.
Gloria took a snail from the plate, and Draco pressed the snail on the table, recalling the spell and movements that Professor McGonagall had just performed.
"Deletrius—"
With a flick of her wand, the snail quickly disappeared. Gloria glanced at the table and found that it was indeed gone.
"It seems the first student who doesn't have to do homework has appeared. Slytherin gets 10 points."
Professor McGonagall looked relieved and smiled as she looked at the table without the snail. She felt sorry again that Gloria was not assigned to Gryffindor.
Draco cast a spell, but the snail only faded a little in color and did not disappear.
"Tri's tone was heavier. Wave the wand like this." Gloria corrected his pronunciation and movements beside him. "When casting a spell, there is an idea, which is to make it disappear."
Draco was very talented, and after careful corrections, the snail disappeared when he cast the spell for the second time. The speed of disappearance needed to be improved, but it was still a success.
Professor McGonagall always pays attention to the situation of each student and naturally sees this successful example.
"Mr. Malfoy also exempted this class from homework, and Slytherin got five extra points."
They succeeded, but the other students were still working hard. Many of them almost poked the snail to pieces, but the snail didn't change at all.
About ten minutes later, a Ravenclaw student with good understanding also succeeded.
The students sitting around Gloria and Draco saw the key points she corrected, and one student succeeded before the get out of class ended.
Professor McGonagall assigned a fifteen-inch homework assignment, and this was the first class. Many students immediately envied those who were exempted from the homework.
The bell rang and they were going to their second class, Potions.
When Gloria looked at the schedule, she found that Gryffindor was with her as expected. She suspected that Professor Snape did it on purpose, as Slytherin and Gryffindor had Potions class together regardless of grade.
"Potter is in trouble," Draco said.
Even though he is not as targeted at Potter as before due to his position, Professor Snape will not let him go.
"Maybe, but we have one less class to do, so we can save some time."
"I envy you guys." Zabini trotted over from behind, "I almost succeeded."
Even though the academy was divided, Gloria was still supported.
Entering the classroom, the Gryffindor students arrived early and Harry sat at the back as expected.
Gloria and Draco were in their old positions, taking out the crucibles, balances and other items needed to brew the potion.
Professor Snape entered the classroom quietly, and the sound of the door closing silenced the class.
He walked to the podium and glanced at the students below coldly, "It's a pity that some of the faces here will not appear in my class again in another year."
Judging from the tone of his voice, he doesn't seem to feel sorry at all.
Gloria glanced at Draco, unsure whether their head of house was going to have a long speech as well.
"I believe a teacher has told you about that important exam. I must make it clear that only students who get an O grade can continue to come to the Potions class in the sixth grade. Before that, I will continue to tolerate certain students for another year."
Almost everyone, including the Gryffindors themselves, felt that most of them would probably not be here again next year.
After his sharp words, Professor Snape began to announce the potion to be brewed today: a soothing potion.
Gloria glanced at the contents on the blackboard and turned to get the materials from the medicine cabinet.
When her hand reached for a bottle of moonstone powder, another hand also reached out. She glanced at the other person and saw that it was a boy from the same college.
Under the intimidating gaze, the boy withdrew his hand in shame and changed his position.
