Chapter 279 A brief reply
Chapter 279 A brief reply
Slughorn wanted Gloria and Draco to sit on either side of him, but was declined.
McLaggen and Bobbin were sitting on either side of him. Slughorn picked up his cup and asked McLaggen, "Cormac, has your uncle mentioned the Minister of Magic recently? We all saw what happened in France. The Minister should know the inside information better than anyone else."
He was talking about what Grindelwald had called.
Now even Hermione and Ginny, who were whispering, pricked up their ears and listened carefully.
McLaggen showed pride as he got everyone's attention. "I wrote to my uncle and he said that the two ministries decided to jointly investigate to see if it has anything to do with You-Know-Who."
Slughorn's eyes lit up when he heard this. Draco also looked at Gloria and asked with his mouth: Will something happen?
Gloria shook her head faintly.
"This is big news." The professor was very satisfied with this. "Will the joint investigation be announced?"
McLaggen obviously didn't care about this. He shook his head and said, "I'm not sure about that. I'll write to my uncle later."
Slughorn was satisfied with the news and turned to Bobbin, "Melinda, how is the drug supply cooperation between your pharmacy chain and St. Mungo's Hospital? By the way, I know a few healers at St. Mungo's. They were all students of the club."
“The cooperation has been very stable,” Bobin said with a smile.
Slughorn looked at Ginny, "I have a student I know in the Ministry of Magic, and I heard that your father, Arthur Weasley, is very important recently."
Ginny didn't like the attention of this occasion, so she just pursed her lips and said, "My father just did what he had to do."
"Yes, it is this kind of seriousness that makes him be valued."
Slughorn seemed not to notice her discomfort, and fortunately he did not intend to continue asking her about her father. His eyes turned to Hermione, which made Hermione subconsciously stop eating.
"Don't be nervous." The professor comforted her, "It's a pity that it wasn't last year at school. I heard about your relationship with Quidditch superstar Viktor Krum. You are such a perfect couple, both of you are excellent."
Hermione barely managed to hold back her fake smile and ducked her head in bashfulness.
Slughorn asked her in a curious tone, "I know the Muggle world is very different from ours. What does your family do in the Muggle world?"
"My parents are dentists." Hermione felt less uncomfortable when she mentioned her family. She continued to explain in case they didn't understand. "I treat Muggles' teeth. Sometimes I beautify them or make them straighter."
Wizards usually use potions and spells to heal people, so I was quite surprised to hear about this profession.
"Sounds like a therapist," said Slughorn.
"My mother once planned to launch a product that would make teeth whiter and brighter," Zabini said, causing Hermione to breathe a sigh of relief.
The people on the field had been talked to almost the same extent, and Gloria looked at Draco, signaling him to be ready with her eyes.
"I saw in the letter that Draco's father also had a job transfer." As expected, Slughorn's topic fell on him.
"Yes," Draco said, "The Ministry of Magic has been doing a lot this year, so naturally it needs to mobilize manpower."
After he finished speaking, Gloria asked, "Professor, do you know any students in France? I wonder if the signs in France will spread."
"It's hard to say." Slughorn was also concerned about this matter. "I really hope it has nothing to do with some organization here."
To avoid being a dull audience, Gloria said, "The food tastes good. The professor is very good at ordering."
Speaking of this, Slughorn suddenly felt the urge to show off.
When we were finally able to leave, the professor smiled and saw everyone off, saying that he would organize the next party as soon as possible.
Ginny had her back turned to him and was rolling her eyes.
Draco walked in front with Gloria by his hand. After a few steps, he turned back and said to Zabini, "Let's go to the secret room. You go back to the lounge first."
Zabini took a deep breath, "Seriously? You guys are still whispering at this hour."
Gloria waved at him and said goodbye to Hermione and Ginny.
It was not until they reached the Chamber of Secrets that Draco dared to ask, "With both Ministries investigating together, will Grindelwald be caught? If he is caught, will he betray us?"
"You underestimate Grindelwald." Gloria said, "Not only has his physical fitness recovered, but his magical strength has also improved."
Draco said, "I wonder what he did."
"If you really want to know, I'll try writing to him and asking him."
The boy hugged her, "If possible."
·
Two weeks passed after this.
Grindelwald was probably very busy, or he had no intention of replying. After Gloria sent the letter through the house-elf, there was no response from the other end. She didn't ask the elf what was going on, so she just waited.
Until now, Grindelwald replied.
At that time, Gloria and Draco were doing their homework. Apart from classes, their rest of the time was almost completely filled with parchment, and the quills were worn out and the ink was replenished very quickly.
The elf handed the letter to Gloria. Draco thought it was still a letter from the Ministry of Magic and didn't even raise his head.
Seeing the wild handwriting on it, she shook the letter, "Grindelwald's reply, do you want to see it?"
The boy immediately threw away the quill in his hand and said, "Look!"
After opening it, he took only a glance and put it down. Gloria asked curiously, "Don't you want to read it anymore?"
"No." Draco handed her the letter. "The reply was very short."
There were indeed very few words on the envelope: The charm of the new world naturally attracted wizards.
"You said you gave me the portkey, and took me to Slytherin Manor?" Draco asked worriedly, "You've held a party at the manor before, and maybe some of the invited guests will recognize the place."
"No." Gloria was much calmer. "The location of the teleportation is quite far from the manor. Their stay time is limited. Besides, the fire dragon near the manor will prevent anyone from approaching unless I allow it."
Draco then sat down with peace of mind. "But Grindelwald is a fugitive after all. One day you will have to stand in front of the stage and explain the matter of the New World in person. The Ministry of Magic will then investigate."
"So I want to unite most wizards in the world." Gloria said: "I won't do anything bad, and it's unwise to pursue it."
As for Grindelwald, he should be thinking about how to regain his freedom.
I have almost finished my homework and it is almost time for the first class in the afternoon.
Gloria took out the books she would use for class, "Let's go, Potions class. Professor Slughorn has invited us to a party again, so we need to find an excuse to turn it down."
Draco pointed at the homework on the desk, "That's the reason. He must know how heavy the homework is for sixth graders."
Gloria smiled sweetly and kissed his cheek.
When I went to the Potions classroom, I met other students, and they were all talking about the date for the first trip to Hogsmeade village being set, which would be in mid-October.
Draco said, "I won't go there. I'll wait for you in the Chamber of Secrets."
He knew Gloria was going out to meet Sirius and the others.
"Yes," Gloria said, "I'll be back after the meeting."
