Chapter 233: I’m Pregnant (37)
Furthermore, the two have already registered.Lily Green could never bring herself to do it.
So, with tears in her eyes, Lily watched Logan Moore turn and walk away.
Just as he had come.
His demeanor showed no sign of awkwardness.
After exchanging rings, when the officiant announced that the groom could kiss the bride, Lily Green felt very nervous.
Since registering, she and Elijah Sheppard had been sleeping in the same bed every day, but he only held her; he never kissed her or acted as a couple.
The two had a feeling of mutual respect but distant cordiality.
Elijah seemed not very tense, while he gently held her hands with his, slowly drawing closer to her. Just as Lily closed her eyes, she felt his lips touch hers. Her face flushed red, and before she could react, he pulled away.
The moment was fleeting.
She opened her eyes to meet his gaze full of amusement.
Cheers and applause filled the room.
Soon after, he led her away to the dressing room to change outfits.
Elijah knew she wasn’t yet comfortable seeing him openly, so he let her go in to change while he waited outside the door.
With the help of the maids, Lily Green changed out of her wedding gown and into a fitted red dress.
Then she went out to toast with Elijah.
The attendees were many, and toasting table by table was an enormous task.
Even though Lily Green was used to wearing high heels, her feet ached.
Fortunately, Elijah noticed her fatigue and arranged for someone to take her home to rest.
Because of Logan Moore’s appearance at the wedding, her heart felt heavy and secretly ached.
She returned to the bedroom, kicked off her shoes, and lay on the bed, staring at the ceiling in a daze.
She stayed like this for quite a while, her arm over her face, eyes closed, as tears began to flow.
The "click" of the door being pushed open startled Lily Green, causing her to turn over, quickly wipe her tears, and sit up.
"Crying?" Elijah Sheppard’s expression was ambiguous, "Let me guess, are you crying tears of joy because you married me or are you heartbroken? Hmm... I’d bet on the latter."
Lily Green didn’t answer but asked back, "Are you going to the hotel again?"
He walked over, stood in front of her, overlooking her.
Lily Green looked up and was pushed onto the bed by him. His hand gently moved her hair aside, "Now that you’ve become my wife, don’t think about what should or shouldn’t be thought about. You chose me to be your husband; you must be fully responsible to me, understood?"
This seemingly playful man suddenly turned serious, leaving her feeling defenseless.
"I’ll be a qualified wife."
Elijah Sheppard lifted her hands above her head and said softly, "Do you know what the first thing is to being a qualified wife?"
"What?"
"To cooperate with your husband in marital life."
"Um..." Lily Green struggled, "Let me go..."
He released her lips, looking down at her with an unclear expression, "Didn’t you say you want to be a qualified wife? But now you won’t let me touch you? What? Are you saving yourself for your ex-boyfriend?"
Under his barrage of questions, she felt only shame and anger, "I’m just feeling uncomfortable, can you give me some time?"
"Feeling uncomfortable? Hard to accept?" He stood up, "Since you’re unwilling, I won’t force it."
"Elijah Sheppard..."
He closed the door and left.

"Miss Hughes, our young master requests your presence."
Grace Hughes’s hand shook slightly as she held her cup, looking towards Nathaniel Green in disbelief, "Want to see me?"
"Yes."
Grace Hughes immediately stood up, took her bag, and walked with Nathaniel Green, forgetting to say a word to Stellan Quinn.
Entering the lounge, she saw Jacob Green sitting on the sofa, holding a glass, lost in thought.
Her heartbeat quickened, purposely putting on an impatient look, "What do you want from me?"
"Come sit," Jacob Green patted the spot next to him.
Grace Hughes felt all the blood rush to her head, stepped slowly, and sat beside him.
Jacob Green turned his head and looked at her, "You’ve loved me for so long, always finding ways to get my attention and even affection, you really worked hard."
Grace Hughes felt her heart in her throat, stuttering, "You... you..."
"You wonder how I know this, right?" He chuckled, "You pretended to like women in front of Stellan Quinn, only The Quinns would believe such nonsense of yours."
"What exactly do you want to say?!" Grace Hughes felt uncertain, not knowing his intention.
"If I give you the chance to come to my side... but first, you must help me with one thing. Are you willing?"
Grace Hughes’s heart stirred, the opportunity she longed for now presented itself, how could she not be excited?
"You mean... really?!" Grace Hughes’s eyes lit up, "You mean it?"
"Of course."
"What do you need me to do? I don’t know what I can do for you? I’m just an ordinary person."
Jacob Green swirled his glass, "How could you be just an ordinary person?"
"Don’t joke around, I know my worth."
"Help me handle this, and you’ll be by my side. There are no ordinary people in my company."
Such words were devastating to Grace Hughes, she lowered her voice, "What do you need me to do, just tell me, as long as it’s within my power."
Jacob Green smiled, "I want you to throw Benjamin Quinn into prison and seize The Quinns’ assets from Stellan Quinn."
"Wha... what?!"
"You heard correctly. Do I need to repeat myself?"
She shook her head, "No, why would you do that? Haven’t Clan Green already taken over The Quinns’ company?"
"You don’t need to know why I’m doing this, you just need to answer me, will you do it or not?"
Grace Hughes bit her lip, "I’ll do it, but are you sure you’ll keep your word?"
"Certainly."
...
When Grace Hughes walked out, Stellan Quinn was about to call her.
"Grace, where did you go? I looked all over and couldn’t find you."
"I went out for some air. Stellan, it’s about time, should we head back?"
"Alright."
Grace Hughes linked arms with her as they walked, "Stellan, let’s stay home for a few days?"
"You don’t want to leave?"
"Overseas food is not as good as ours, nothing beats being at home, I wish to stay a few more days before leaving." She added, "Besides, once you leave, you won’t return for a long time; you should spend more time with your dad who’ll be left alone, don’t you think?"
"Yes," Stellan Quinn decided, "Let’s stay home for five more days before leaving, alright? If it’s any longer, I’m afraid he won’t be happy. You know, he really likes me now."
"I know, of course. Let’s go with that plan."
——
That evening, Benjamin Quinn asked the kitchen to prepare a lavish dinner.
He understood that his time to bond with his daughter was limited; Stellan Quinn was now his only hope.
