Chapter 2110 Poisoning Again
Chapter 2110 Poisoning Again
Yan Ruyu listened to Chunni's story and sighed softly.
Chunni's eyes reddened: "Actually, I lied again. The reason I came to Rongzhou was not because I heard from others that my father was here, but because I guessed it myself."
Yan Ruyu raised an eyebrow: "Guessing?"
Chunni nodded: "That's right. I think my father must not be able to find me and think that something happened to me, so he came to seek revenge on Governor Ding."
"Although my father never said it, I know that he has never given up on revenge all these years, and he has never forgotten the deep hatred he felt for my mother!"
Chunni turned her face away to calm herself down.
Yan Ruyu said slowly, "I cannot truly understand your feelings, but I sympathize with the injustice you have recounted."
“Don’t rush into this matter,” she pondered. “Let me ask the envoy of Suzhou to ask Governor Ding. If it really was him, he will surely give you an explanation.”
Chunni turned to look at her, her eyes slightly wide: "Really?"
Yan Ruyu nodded: "Of course."
"However, you must wait patiently. Governor Ding has important matters to attend to and cannot die yet. Even if he is guilty, he should not die at your hands."
“Your mother is dead, and she wouldn’t want you to lose your life because of her.”
Chunni hesitated for a moment, then nodded.
"Okay, I'll listen to you."
Yan Ruyu stood up: "Then you should rest early and wait patiently."
As she stepped out of the courtyard, Huo Changhe was standing at the gate. Upon seeing her come out, he quickly came to greet her.
"Are you okay?"
Yan Ruyu shook her head: "It's nothing."
She told Huo Changhe everything Chunni had said.
Huo Changhe frowned and looked around the courtyard: "That's what she said?"
Yan Ruyu nodded: "Let's go."
The two left, found Su Zhenhai, and asked him to stop chasing the assassins so they could return to the Su residence together.
The next morning, after having breakfast, Su Shengsheng, with an undisguised smile on her face, walked briskly through the path lined with green bamboo and headed straight for Yan Ruyu's residence.
Yan Ruyu's courtyard was always quiet, with a faint scent of herbs in the air.
Hearing footsteps, she looked up and saw Su Shengsheng bursting in excitedly.
"Doctor! Doctor!" Su Shengsheng called out loudly as soon as he entered the room, "Come with me quickly, let's go see my older brother!"
Yan Ruyu has been busy these past two days and hasn't had time to go over.
After Su Jingzhuo was out of danger, she continued to use the medicinal herbs that Su Jingzhuo had prepared.
Yan Ruyu nodded: "Alright, let's go take a look."
Su Shengsheng chattered on and on about the changes in Su Jingzhuo over the past few days, saying that he could eat half a bowl more porridge and that he could sit by himself for half an hour, his tone full of joy.
"Your medical skills are truly superb, young doctor," Su Shengsheng exclaimed. "Back then, the manor invited so many doctors, but they were all helpless. As soon as you arrived, my elder brother's condition improved."
Yan Ruyu remained noncommittal and followed her forward.
Su Jingzhuo's courtyard is not far away; you can get there by passing through two moon gates.
Before even entering the courtyard, I could hear steady breathing coming from inside, mixed with the soft rustling of clothes.
As she entered the courtyard, she saw Su Jingzhuo practicing boxing in the open space.
He was wearing a loose-fitting, plain-colored long shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his forearms. Although his exposed arms were still thin, his movements were methodical.
Although the speed was slow, the force was even. As he turned, the hem of his long robe swayed gently. Compared to his withered appearance when he was bedridden, he was indeed much more alive.
Su Shengsheng strode forward, clapping his hands with a smile: "Big Brother!"
Upon hearing this, Su Jingzhuo withdrew his fist and turned around.
Although his face was still a little pale, his eyes were clear and his breathing was much more steady.
Upon seeing Yan Ruyu, gratitude immediately appeared in his eyes. He quickly stepped forward and bowed deeply to Yan Ruyu, his movements respectful and steady: "Doctor, thank you for saving my life."
Yan Ruyu did not respond to his thanks, but simply stood there, her gaze fixed on his face.
Her gaze was focused and calm, as if she were examining something, without a trace of a smile.
Su Shengsheng's smile gradually faded, and her heart inexplicably tightened.
Looking at Yan Ruyu, then at Su Jingzhuo, he tentatively asked, "Doctor, what's wrong? Is something wrong with my elder brother?"
Su Jingzhuo also sensed something was wrong, his brows furrowed slightly, and his tone was somewhat serious: "Doctor, please speak freely, there's no need to hold back."
Yan Ruyu remained silent for a moment before asking, "What have you eaten these past two days?"
Upon hearing this, Su Jingzhuo thought carefully for a moment and answered truthfully, "I ate everything according to the recipes you left behind, and I didn't touch anything else."
He paused, then added, "These ingredients were also specially reserved by you, to be cooked just for me."
In order to help Su Jingzhuo recover as soon as possible, Yan Ruyu specially prepared a recipe to help him recover, considering that his body was severely depleted. She not only wrote down the ingredients and cooking methods in detail, but also took some ingredients that the abbot had given her from her space and handed them over to the Su family kitchen.
It was thanks to this meticulous care that Su Jingzhuo was able to recover so quickly.
Yan Ruyu nodded, stepped forward, and placed her fingers on Su Jingzhuo's wrist.
Su Shengsheng and Su Jingzhuo held their breath, their eyes fixed on her face, not daring to even breathe loudly.
A moment later, Yan Ruyu withdrew her hand, her expression darkening slightly. Her tone was calm yet carried an undeniable certainty: "You've been poisoned again."
"What?!" Su Shengsheng suddenly raised his voice, the color draining from his face instantly, filled with shock and anger.
"How is that possible?! You personally selected all the ingredients, and the cook was the most loyal person in the manor. How could he have been poisoned again?"
She clenched her fists, her chest heaving violently: "Who is behind this? I'll find him and tear him to pieces!"
Su Jingzhuo's face turned pale instantly, his lips pressed into a straight line, and his brows furrowed even more tightly.
He looked down at his hands, his fingertips trembling slightly, but he didn't speak. Only a complex and unreadable emotion flashed in his eyes.
Yan Ruyu's gaze fell on Su Jingzhuo's face, and she asked softly, "Young Master Su, is there anything you wish to say?"
Su Jingzhuo raised his head and slowly shook his head: "No, no. I don't understand either, who wants to harm me."
His voice was a little hoarse. Yan Ruyu didn't press him further and turned her gaze to the main house on the west side of the courtyard: "Besides the food, what else have you been in contact with these past two days? Take me to see it."
"Okay, okay!" Su Shengsheng quickly agreed and took the lead in walking into the house. "Little doctor, please go in and check what's harming my older brother!"
Su Jingzhuo followed suit, his steps somewhat heavy.
Yan Ruyu walked at the back, her gaze sweeping over the furnishings in the courtyard: pomegranate trees, stone tables, moss in the corners of the walls—everything was as usual, orderly and without any extra flowers or plants, and there was nothing unusual about it.
