Chapter 271 Greedy Desire
Chapter 271 Greedy Desire
"Ding-ling-ling..." The doorbell of the repair shop rang, and I got up again and saw a woman in a black leather jacket and sunglasses walking in. She was tall and curly, and her fiery red curly hair looked particularly dazzling in the dim light.
"Excuse me, is this a repair shop?" The woman's voice was low and hoarse, with a barely perceptible tremor.
I was stunned for a moment and nodded subconsciously.
The woman took off her sunglasses, revealing a pair of deep and charming eyes. The corners of her eyes were slightly raised, with a hint of charm, but also hiding a subtle sadness.
"My car broke down, can you help me take a look?"
Only then did I notice that there was a black Lamborghini parked outside the repair shop, flashing a cold light under the dim light.
I swallowed and felt my heartbeat start to speed up. This Lamborghini was the most expensive car I had ever seen in my life, and it was something I would never own.
"Of course." I tried to keep myself calm. "Please drive in."
The woman nodded and slowly drove the Lamborghini into the repair shop. I walked over, opened the hood, and began to check the fault.
"Hiss..." I gasped. The engine of this Lamborghini is like a precise work of art, with every part shining with metallic luster.
"What's wrong?" the woman asked.
"Nothing...nothing." I hurriedly covered up my mistake, "It's just...this car is so beautiful."
The woman smiled and said nothing.
I checked and found that there was a problem with the oil line.
"We need to replace an oil line," I told the woman. "It will probably take about an hour."
"Okay." The woman nodded. "I'll wait for you nearby."
I started to get busy, removing the old oil pipe and installing the new one. My movements were very skillful, and every step was meticulous.
An hour later, I had completed the repair.
"Okay," I said to the woman, "you can try it now."
The woman started the engine, the Lamborghini let out a low roar, and then slowly drove out of the repair shop.
"Thank you." The woman said to me, "How much?"
"Uh..." I hesitated, "One hundred dollars."
I didn't actually know how much to charge, I just picked a number.
The woman took a hundred-dollar bill out of her wallet, handed it to me, and then turned and left.
I looked at the banknotes in my hand and felt a little dazed.
Just then, I suddenly noticed that the woman had left a black suitcase in the repair shop.
I picked up the suitcase and it felt heavy. I hesitated and opened it.
The suitcase was filled with banknotes.
I froze, and it felt like my breathing had stopped.
So much money... I have never seen so much money in my life...
A greedy desire began to surge in my heart.
I can use this money to renovate my repair shop, buy a new Mustang, or even... leave this run-down town and pursue my dream...
My hands began to tremble.
I clutched the suitcase tightly and felt my heartbeat quickening.
Just then, the doorbell of the repair shop rang again...
Chu Tian rubbed his face vigorously, trying to wipe away the chaos brought by the hangover. A slightly haggard face was reflected in the mirror, and the fine lines at the corners of the eyes were particularly obvious under the dim light. Thirty-five years old should be the golden age for men, but he felt like a piece of squeezed sugarcane residue, exuding a decadent atmosphere.
"Damn hangover." Chu Tian muttered, turning on the tap. The cold water stimulated his nerves and made him a little more sober. The fragments of last night's memory began to piece together slowly, the noisy bar, the pungent smell of alcohol, and the enchanting figure of that woman...
He shook his head, trying not to think about the things that upset him. What he needed most now was a job, a job that would allow him to get back on his feet. Since he was fired by the company half a year ago, he has been unemployed and his savings are almost gone.
Chu Tian ate something hastily, put on a wrinkled suit, and prepared to go out. Today he was going to interview for a security job, and although this job was far different from his previous position, he had no choice.
Walking out of the rental house, the dazzling sunlight made him feel a little uncomfortable. He squinted his eyes, took a deep breath, and felt the hustle and bustle of the city. Pedestrians hurried past on the street, and everyone's face showed their own joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness, which was out of tune with his lonely figure.
The interview was held at a logistics company on the outskirts of the city. Chu Tian took a bus for more than an hour to get there. The company's gate looked a bit shabby, and there was an old man in uniform dozing off in the security booth at the gate.
Chu Tian walked up and knocked on the window gently. "Hello, I'm here for an interview for the security guard position."
The old man suddenly woke up, rubbed his sleepy eyes, and looked Chu Tian up and down. "Security guard? You? With thin arms and legs, what can you do?"
Chu Tian suppressed his dissatisfaction and tried to speak in a calm tone: "Although I look thin, I still have strength, and I am serious and responsible in my work, and I will never let the company down."
The old man curled his lips in disdain. "Alright, alright, go in. The HR department is on the second floor."
Chu Tian followed the old man's instructions and found the human resources department. The person who interviewed him was a young woman who was wearing a professional suit and delicate makeup, looking smart and capable.
"Mr. Chu Tian, right? Please sit down." The woman pointed to the chair opposite.
After Chu Tian sat down, the woman began to routinely ask some basic information, and then asked some questions about security work. Chu Tian answered them one by one seriously, trying his best to show his advantages.
After the interview, the woman said, "Mr. Chu Tian, we have understood your situation. We will inform you of the interview results as soon as possible."
Chu Tian stood up, thanked him, and left the company. He was feeling uneasy, not knowing whether he could get the job.
In the next few days, Chu Tian was anxiously waiting for the interview results. He checked his phone every day, fearing that he would miss any call. However, the phone never rang.
Just when he was about to despair, his cell phone finally rang. He picked up the phone excitedly, and the woman's voice came from the other end of the phone: "Mr. Chu Tian, congratulations, you are hired. You can come to work tomorrow."
Chu Tian was overjoyed. He finally found a job! Although it was just a security job, he believed that as long as he worked hard, he would be able to achieve something.
The next day, Chu Tian arrived at the company on time to report. When the old security guard saw him, he was surprised. "Oh, you were really hired? It seems that I underestimated you."
Chu Tian smiled and said nothing. He changed into a security uniform and started his new job.
The security work of the logistics company is not easy. Every day, he has to patrol, check the goods and prevent theft. Although Chu Tian is thin, he is serious and responsible in his work and soon won the recognition of his colleagues and leaders.
