Chapter 34 Silent Trial
Chapter 34 Silent Trial
The icebreaker slowly sailed northward through the waves of the Southern Ocean, but the cabin was even quieter than the wind and snow outside.
The "Doctor" was placed in an isolation chamber in the lower deck. He huddled in a corner, muttering incomprehensible genetic sequences. The "god" who once controlled the lives of countless people was now nothing but an empty shell, utterly consumed by the madness he had created. He had lost, utterly and completely, even his right to die had been taken away.
On the deck, Suya and Lin Mo stood side by side, the sea breeze ruffling their hair, but unable to dispel the tranquility in their eyes. This tranquility was hard-won, earned through countless nights of nightmares and struggles.
The psychotherapist, Acha, sat opposite them, holding a whiteboard, her voice so soft it was as if she were afraid of disturbing something. "Today we won't talk about the lab, or the 'twin viruses.' We'll only talk about the present, about how you feel right now."
Lin Mo's fingers trembled slightly, a lingering effect of being controlled by the "killing program" for so long. He took a deep breath, trying to keep his voice steady: "I want to... draw." He turned to look at Su Ya, "Before, in the lab, I could only draw those cold anatomical diagrams. Now, I want to draw her."
Suya looked up, a hint of surprise flashing in her eyes, which quickly turned into a gentle smile. She reached out and gently took her brother's hand. It was a silent connection, no longer a forced synchronization by the virus, but a resonance deep within their souls.
"I want to learn too," Suya said softly. "To learn to be an ordinary person. To learn... to love, instead of to kill."
Acha smiled and nodded, writing on the notepad: "Cognitive reconstruction begins, emotional connection repair in progress." She knew that the road ahead was still long, but at least they had taken the most important step.
Meanwhile, in the command center deep inside the ship's cabin, Lin Yu was frowning as he faced a pile of encrypted hard drives and files.
The core evidence against "Eden" was far more extensive and shocking than he had imagined. From bribery records of high-ranking members of the "Phoenix" organization to detailed files on illegal human experiments worldwide, and the list of politicians and scientists who had been bought off... each document struck him like a heavy hammer.
"Boss, once this information is made public, it will shake up half the world's political and business circles," Assistant Zhang said with some worry, looking at the dense list of names on the screen.
Lin Yu lit a cigarette but didn't smoke it, letting the smoke swirl around his fingertips. "Earthquake? No, this is a tsunami." His voice was low and firm. "But this isn't destruction, it's cleansing."
He stood up, walked to the porthole, and looked at the dawn gradually breaking in the distance.
"The Phoenix may have fallen, but its wings remain. Those remaining forces, those 'vultures' lurking in the shadows, are still coveting these technologies." Lin Yu turned around, a cold glint in his eyes. "What we need to do is not hide them, but expose them to the world, letting the sunlight shine into every corner."
He picked up the communicator on the table and gave his final instructions: "Prepare for a press conference. Tell the world that we have found evidence of Phoenix's crimes."
The journey home may be long, but the destination is no longer an abyss, but dawn.
Suya and Lin Mo smiled at each other on the deck, a sense of relief after going through so much trouble; Lin Yu organized evidence in the command room, for the sake of a just trial; while the "Doctor" in the lower deck awaited his due fate in endless regret.
This silent trial has only just begun. And the scales of victory have finally tipped in favor of the light.
