Chapter 37 One Against Eight
Chapter 37 One Against Eight
"It's still early. As long as we have enough money, we can focus on cultivation for now." Lin Wei shook his head.
After resting for a night, the three hired a carriage caravan and headed towards Maple Forest, using the time on the road to cultivate.
After Lin Wei and the others left, several knights whispered among themselves.
"Brothers, we've got a job!" a one-eyed knight shouted. "These three look like teammates. They're heading towards Maple Forest. Their aura is unmatched by lone knights. Especially that female knight, if I look at her a few more times, I'll want to go to a brothel to relieve my lust."
"But these three don't seem like simple people," one of the knights questioned.
"Apart from one seemingly ordinary knight, the other two, no matter how strong, are no match for us. We have a total of five standard knights..." the one-eyed knight explained.
"Listen to One-Eyed, this job will put us back in bed for months," another knight agreed.
"I have no objection, but that female knight should stay a little longer so I can have some fun with her." One of the knights' lustful thoughts were aroused.
"The minority must obey the majority. Brothers, let's go! Three young knights, what are we afraid of?" the one-eyed knight finally decided.
The five were originally a legitimate knight exploration team, but during one of their explorations they encountered another half-crippled team. On the advice of One-Eyed, they double-crossed each other and became addicted to it, starting their exploration and robbery business.
……
A week later, Lin Wei and his group arrived at Maple Leaf Forest. Outside Maple Leaf Forest, there were many scattered small encampments, each bearing the name of a different prince.
"Swan Prince, Blood Frog Prince, Maple Leaf Prince, Dragonfly Prince, Shark Prince..." Lin Wei looked at them one by one. "Nearly half of the princes in the duchy are stationed here."
He focused his attention on the Swan Prince's encampment and found four or five standard knights organizing goods.
"The knights stationed in these areas are weaker than ordinary knights. They mostly practice low-grade breathing techniques, and their skill level only reaches the fourth rank," the Carp Knight explained.
Ever since he learned that the Swan Knight had sent men to search for the Lion Knight, he had kept the matter in mind.
"Understood, thank you." Lin Wei nodded.
He doesn't know if he can handle four or five weaker standard knights. If he can find an opportunity to wipe out the Swan Prince's camp, it would be a good counterattack.
"Let's go find Chi Yan first."
"No problem, we'll have to rely on the two of you again, especially the Lark Knight. That Crimson Swallow is incredibly fast; I'm afraid only you can keep up with it," the Carp Knight said with a smile.
His breathing technique is that of marine mammals, which is not very effective on land and often only serves as a guide.
"No problem, leave it to me." The Nightingale Knight puffed out his chest.
"Haha." Lin Wei glanced at it. "It feels like we're the ones boosting the boss's account."
Lin Wei was struggling with which breathing technique to reveal, limiting himself to only one. To be on the safe side, he definitely couldn't use the Chengshi breathing technique.
"I still have the Mantis Form, Heron Form, and Rose Form left," Lin Wei muttered to himself. "I can't continue practicing the Heron Breathing Technique. I originally wanted to use the Rose Breathing Technique, but Drake was attacked. I'll stick with the Mantis Form, at least until I become a Great Knight."
The three followed the clues and slipped into a corner of the Maple Forest.
Shortly after Lin Wei and his group left, the One-Eyed Knight and his companions followed closely behind.
"Tarantula, your tracking technique is really effective," the one-eyed knight said to a knight whose body was half-transformed into a spider.
"Shh, keep your voice down, follow me." The tarantula knight lay prone on the ground.
The others worked together smoothly and followed quietly.
……
Two days later, Lin Wei and his two companions arrived at a very inconspicuous cave.
"This cave is where the Crimson Swallow built its nest." The Carp Knight closed the map and pointed to the cave.
"Let's hurry inside!" the Nightingale Knight urged.
Lin Wei silently shook his head, looked at the dense bushes behind him, and said calmly, "You've all been following us for so long, hasn't that been rather impolite?"
The Lark Knight and the Carp Knight were somewhat dazed. Someone was following them?
But why didn't they notice it along the way?
Lin Wei made a gesture to calm down, then calmly looked at the bushes and drew his bow.
Ever since he entered the Maple Forest, he had a vague feeling that he was being watched, and it grew stronger over time.
But he only suspected it; he had no concrete evidence.
"Damn it, we've been spotted?" A hundred meters away, a knight hiding in a haystack cursed under his breath. "We've been discovered, what's the point of hiding? There are so many of us, what's there to be afraid of? I'm about to suffocate following that alluring female knight every day."
"Don't move. The wind is blowing down in this area, so it's hard for others to notice," the tarantula rider emphasized.
"As expected, someone has spotted you." Lin Wei chuckled and fired several spiral arrows.
The arrow swept across a hundred meters in an instant, accurately piercing the open-mouthed knight's leg.
"Ouch, damn arrow."
The knight was shot through the thigh and fell to the ground, rolling around.
The Lark Knight and the Carp Knight exchanged a glance, their faces showing shock.
The Lion Knight was truly a prophet...
"Brothers, charge!" the one-eyed knight roared, transforming into a lizardman and charging forward with twin swords. He was the Lizard Knight. Behind him, the Mudfish Knight, the Sparrow Knight, and the Tarantula Knight appeared one after another.
The wounded Iron Bull Knight kept applying medicine to his wound, roaring, "I'm going to kill this brat!"
"You each take one, and I'll handle the other three. Let's finish this quickly."
The distance of a hundred meters closed in an instant. Lin Wei transformed into a mantis and charged towards the lizard rider.
Mantis Man?
How did the Lion Rider turn into a Mantis? Wasn't he supposed to be a Lion Rider?
The Lark Knight and Carp Knight transformed into their respective forms, ignoring their shock, and went after their opponents, the Sparrow Knight and the Loach Knight.
"Show-off brat, trying to take on three at once." The lizard rider sneered.
When Lin Wei's previous arrangements reached his ears, it was like hearing the biggest joke in the world.
"Heh, what a nuisance."
Lin Wei unleashed several mantis-shaped slashes, barely perceptible to the naked eye, easily shattering the lizard knight's twin blades and embedding them into his flesh.
"Pfft!"
The lizard rider's prized lizard skin was easily torn apart, and half of his body went numb and bled.
Lin Wei moved swiftly, unleashing over a dozen mantis blade strikes, and the lizard rider fell into a pool of blood in less than two minutes.
"The first one."
Lin Wei remained expressionless. With the support of the four basic breathing techniques, he dealt with knights of the same level as if he were playing the role of beating up children.
With the physique of a lion, the perception of a mantis, the speed of a heron, and the precision of a rose, every strike is worthwhile.
The tarantula knight, who was about to launch a siege, was dumbfounded. Even the lizard knight, who was extremely strong in close combat, was almost instantly killed by this mantis knight. How could he possibly fight back?
One minute later.
The tarantula rider also collapsed, lying on the ground convulsing, filled with regret.
