Chapter 240 - 237: A Fight with Seth Quinn
After hanging up, Clara Grant felt a heavy tightness in her chest. She just didn’t want to answer his calls. She didn’t care if he got angry, and she didn’t even care about his threats.
’If he wants to announce our marriage, then let him! I just want to be selfish for once, consequences be damned!’
Clara Grant suddenly wondered, ’My request back then not to make our marriage public—hadn’t that been exactly what he wanted?’
’After all, he still had his ex-fiancée on his mind. Maybe he was hoping to get back together with her someday, so he probably never intended to announce the marriage in the first place.’
’I just happened to bring it up first, saving him the trouble.’
’Hmph.’ Clara Grant scoffed inwardly. ’And to think, when I first proposed the idea, he acted so reluctant.’
’He got exactly what he wanted and still played the victim!’
Meanwhile, Seth Quinn, having been hung up on, called again. It only rang twice before the call was disconnected.
He called again. It was disconnected again.
Seth Quinn grew anxious. Part of him was annoyed that she had run off without a word, but he was also worried about her safety.
He forced himself to calm down. After a moment’s thought, he dialed another number.
Holly Summers had just stepped out of the shower and was drying her hair when her phone rang. Toweling her hair, she glanced down and saw an unfamiliar number. She hesitated for a second before answering. "Hello?"
"This is Seth Quinn." He got straight to the point. He knew that Holly Summers and Clara Grant were closest on set. Holly was a great girl—straightforward and innocent. Despite being in the entertainment industry for a few years, she hadn’t picked up the bad habits common among other actresses.
That was why, after carefully reviewing the list of actresses, he had ultimately chosen to put her in the same room as Clara Grant.
In truth, he had wanted to give Clara Grant a private room. But since she forbade him from revealing her identity as his wife, he couldn’t do anything too conspicuous. The best he could do was pick a good roommate for her.
"President Quinn?" Holly Summers asked, puzzled. She involuntarily stopped toweling her hair.
"Is Clara Grant there?" Seth Quinn asked bluntly.
Holly Summers instinctively glanced at Clara Grant’s bed. "No, she isn’t. Didn’t she go back to the city with Miss Vance? She hasn’t returned to the set."
"Alright, I see." After a pause, Seth Quinn added, "Don’t tell her I called looking for her."
Seth Quinn hung up, but Holly Summers was practically buzzing with excitement. ’I knew it! I knew something was going on between Clara and President Quinn. It looks like their relationship is more complicated than I thought!’
’Maybe they’re actually dating.’
’Nope. When Clara gets back, I’m definitely going to have to get the full scoop.’
...
The ride was supposed to take twenty minutes, but it was nearly half an hour before the taxi pulled up in front of Sarah Shelby’s apartment building. Clara Grant got out and had Sarah pay the fare before they went upstairs together.
The moment they were inside, Sarah Shelby couldn’t resist looking her up and down. "Clara, didn’t you say you were going back to the film set today? What happened...?"
Looking exhausted, Clara Grant slipped off her shoes, walked barefoot into the living room, and plopped down onto the sofa.
Sarah Shelby followed her, also barefoot, and sat down across from her, staring intently as she waited for an answer.
"I..." Clara Grant bit her lip. "I had a fight with Seth Quinn."
’The word "fight" didn’t feel quite right,’ she thought, ’but she couldn’t think of a better one.’
