Chapter 1454 - 747: The Road to Heaven
...
"Gain insight, the path to Heaven?" Qing Shui’s thoughts spun as he heard the voice.
Qing Shui recalled the state of enlightenment he had previously experienced, fully aware of the immense benefits it brought. Each time he completed meditation in that state of enlightenment, the gains far surpassed ten years of hard work. However, besides the enlightenment exercise, was there no other way to glimpse the path to Heaven? It seemed there truly wasn’t another method. After all, understanding Heaven’s path depended on one’s own Karma and fate, and most cultivators would never experience this special state of enlightenment in their lifetime! Some might even encounter situations similar to Qing Shui’s, entering that special state, but not at the pinnacle of prowess!
Just as Qing Shui wanted to ask Qing Yi about other ways to understand the path to Heaven, Qing Yi interjected.
"Qing Shui, we have arrived at the library!"
Qing Shui looked down and realized they had reached their destination. Before him stood a three-story building constructed entirely of heavy stone. A sense of secrecy and oppression filled the atmosphere. The building had no windows, and even the entrance was made of thick stone slabs!
The door was approximately 3 meters wide and 4 meters high. Hanging on the door was a plaque engraved with three characters: "Qing’s Library"!
The stone gate leading to the library was tightly shut. It only opened for two months at the end of each year. During these two months, disciples with cultivation levels equal to or above Level 6 Martial Arts could enter and have the opportunity to choose martial arts suitable for their cultivation from the vast collection. In the remaining ten months, only direct descendants of the Qing Family could enter. The rest of the disciples could only enter during the last two months of the year.
This was Qing Shui’s first time seeing the library. After all, the Qing Clan had its own rules. Although the library did not contain many precious rare books, it still held numerous military techniques and
a wide variety of books, such as the ("Continental Medical Record").
Besides martial arts, the second and third floors of the library also held cultivation arts. The relatively ordinary lower-grade books and martial arts manuals were usually placed on Level 1. Disciples of the Qing Clan who reached the required level of cultivation were allowed to browse the books and manuals, and even copy them. The only limitation is they were not allowed to disclose the clan’s techniques to others!
Qing Shui walked to the entrance, raised his hands eagerly, neither lightly nor heavily, knocking three times on the stone gate. The sound "B, B," echoed across the lawn.
A moment later, the heavy stone door opened, revealing an elderly man with cloudy eyes and white hair. Qing Shui quietly stared at him, finding the old man dressed contrary to his expectation of such a person. The old man seemed entirely unconcerned about personal hygiene, yet his clothes were the epitome of cleanliness.
"Elder Lin, I have brought Qing Shui to the library to borrow books!" Qing Yi greeted the elder respectfully.
Watching her smile, Qing Shui sensed a deep affection between Qing Yi and this elder.
"Ah, it’s you, young Qing Yi, come in, come in! It’s been many years since your last visit." Elder Lin smiled warmly. After speaking, he glanced at Qing Shui. The cloudy look in his eyes was replaced by a clear instance, but it quickly disappeared.
"So you’re Qing Shui, very good... very good!" Elder Lin smiled broadly, praising Qing Shui twice in a row, which greatly surprised Qing Shui, as he knew Elder Lin rarely praised others. Even "Qingzi" and "geniuses" had never received his commendation.
"Grandpa Lin, Qing Shui greets you!" Qing Shui greeted Elder Lin respectfully, bowing his head.
Elder Lin said: "Young man, hahaha, hahaha, hahaha, hahaha, hahaha, hahaha, hahaha, hahaha, hahaha, hahaha, hahaha, hahaha, hahaha, hahaha, hahaha, hahaha, hahaha, hahaha."
Afterward, Qing Shui and Qing Yi followed Elder Lin as he led them into the library.
As soon as they entered, Qing Shui realized the inside was much larger than he had imagined, with the library having almost no natural light. The only light source was the glow from several jade pearls mounted on the walls. The light emitted by the pearls was soft but sufficient for library users to clearly read whatever they desired.
Above the jade pearl panels were rows and rows of ancient-looking wooden bookshelves. At first glance, one might think the wood used to construct the shelves was old and worn, but upon closer inspection, the wood appeared thick and heavy, leaving the observer with an impression of solidity and endurance.
The half-bent posture, coupled with a lazy demeanor, made Elder Lin seem far too old, almost as if he could be mistaken for a fossil. It was said that Elder Lin had been the caretaker of the Qing Clan Library for decades!
Qing Yi said: "Elder Lin, I would like to borrow some basic medical knowledge books for Qing Shui."
Elder Lin slowly leaned towards an inconspicuous corner of the library, extracting a few dust-covered books. He lightly patted the books to remove the dust before returning.
Throughout the entire process of Elder Lin fetching books, Qing Shui attentively observed Elder Lin’s actions. He had a feeling that this library elder was not the old and bewildered man he appeared to be. Qing Shui felt that the elderly man before him was, in fact, a very powerful expert! Yet as that thought passed through his mind, Qing Shui quietly chuckled to himself. After all, the strongest person in the Qing Clan was Qing Luo, so how strong could Elder Lin be?
