Chapter 229 The Black Sanctuary's Surprise Attack
Chapter 229 The Black Sanctuary's Surprise Attack
There are always people who are not afraid of death, and not everyone is afraid of the World Eater, such as the "Black Templar"!
The World Eaters' fleet remained silently in orbit above the Vigilant Star, completely undefended, convinced that no one would dare attack them.
Suddenly, a rift tore open in the warp, and a fleet of Black Templars charged straight at the Bloodskull fleet.
As the Black Templar's sword-shaped warship, the "Emperor's Wrath," sliced through the blood mist, Vodar Bloodrocket was tearing at the heart of a Zergling Tyrant with its brass fangs. Suddenly, the bridge tilted 37 degrees, and the Demon Prince slammed the heart against the alarm panel, smashing through the observation window and leaping into the void amidst a shower of blood.
One hundred and twenty Black Templars, anchored by their faith, traced golden paths through the vacuum. Their chainswords roared with the verses of the Imperial Holy War, and each bullet from their slug guns was engraved with the name of a martyr. The World Eaters met them with axes pounding their breastplates, their frenzied battle cries clashing with holy prayers in a storm of metal.
The moment the two legions boarded each other, a rain of metal and flesh fell across the entire star field. A new recruit of the Devourer bit the throat of a Templar and was cleaved in two from the groin to the top of his head by a chainsaw sword. The Black Templar monk's terracotta breastplate was shattered by a power axe, but before dying, he stuffed a Holy Blood grenade into the opponent's abdomen. The severed arm floated and entwined in the vacuum, and the remains of the chainsaw sword and power axe formed a bizarre death sculpture.
Grand Marshal Hel Blanchett's black greatsword, "Eternal Night's Oath," cleaved through the blood mist, the seven hundred martyrs' remains on its blade glowing simultaneously. Voda's brass greataxe, "Blood Oath," trembled thirstily, the twelve Space Marine skulls pierced through its blade screaming.
"The False Emperor's lackey!" The Demon Prince unleashed a crescent-shaped arc of blood-red light.
"Heretical scum!" The Grand Marshal's sword ignited a sacred fire.
Voda Bloodroth's demon wings trembled violently with excitement, each bone spike dripping corrosive blood.
Grand Marshal Heleblade's greatsword "Oath of the Night" aimed straight for the Demon Prince's throat.
Voda dodged the sword's edge, and the brass giant axe "Blood Oath" cleaved upwards. The Grand Marshal parried with the hilt of his sword, and the remains of seven hundred martyrs glowed simultaneously, the burst of holy light deflecting the axe blade.
In the instant the two passed each other, Voda's claws tore through the Grand Marshal's cloak, revealing a relic box hidden on his shoulder armor.
The Grand Marshal's knee strike to the Demon Prince's abdomen was shattered by the impact of the brass skin on his knee pads, and the shockwave knocked over all the warriors within a 30-meter radius.
The battle shifted to the skull throne area in the center of the bridge. Voda's giant axe shattered the throne, and the flying fragments transformed into a deadly barrage.
The Grand Marshal used his sword as a shield, the spinning blade deflecting all the fragments. The two engaged in a death dance amidst the ruins of the throne. Voda's demonic wings swept away the supporting pillars, causing the entire bridge to tilt. The Grand Marshal seized the opportunity to charge forward, his greatsword aimed at the Demon Prince's heart. Voda blocked the blade with the handle of his axe, his fangs biting at the prince's throat. The Grand Marshal leaned back to avoid the blow, then delivered a kick that shattered steel.
The bridge armor was torn open with a huge ripple, and the two continued to fight in the vacuum. Voda's giant axe cleaved out crescent-shaped arcs of blood-red light, melting the floating metal fragments into sharp blades. The Grand Marshal's sword was ignited with holy fire, drawing a burning cross in the void. The two chased each other among the wreckage of the warship, and each collision triggered a small explosion. Severed arms and broken armor floated in the vacuum, forming a bizarre death sculpture.
The Grand Marshal roared and swung his sword, but Voda bit the blade. Voda's fangs carbonized and peeled off in the holy fire. The Grand Marshal took the opportunity to knee Voda in the abdomen, but Voda's knee pads were burned through by the demon's blood. The two rolled and crashed through seven decks, continuing their battle in the reactor core.
Finally, the Grand Marshal seized the opportunity and plunged the "Eternal Night Oath" into Voda's chest. The seven hundred skeletons exploded simultaneously. Voda and Blood Glory roared "Blood Oath" and swung their giant axes to sever the Grand Marshal's right leg. Khorne's curse spread along the wound.
The entire warship disintegrated in the explosion, and the two men were thrown into the burning void.
Voda plunged the charred broken horn into the wound, and brass flesh slowly regenerated amidst the writhing of the hive tissue. The Grand Marshal's mechanical prosthetic limb still gripped the broken sword tightly, and he was still chanting scriptures when he was rescued by the assault boat. The roars of the two rippled through the warp, announcing the end of this bloody ritual.
As the Black Templar fleet withdrew, Vodar stood on his new skull throne, laughing maniacally. Among his spoils were twelve more skulls of Black Templar warriors, each inscribed with blasphemous runes. And deep within the burning void, a shadowy figure with eight hive eyes was recording every detail of this bloody ritual.
…………
The sky above the warning planet is perpetually shrouded in a thick haze, as if even the light of stars cannot penetrate this war-torn land. Defense platforms in orbit flicker with faint signal lights, like lonely guardians in the darkness. And on the planet's surface, massive fortified cities lie like slumbering beasts, silently awaiting the call to war once more.
Grand Marshal Hel Blanchett of the Black Templar lay in a dimly lit medical room. His heavy power armor had been removed, replaced by bandages and medical equipment wrapped around his body. His breathing was weak and steady, but his closed eyes seemed to still be fixed on the enemy on the battlefield. His face was resolute, revealing an indomitable will even in his unconscious state.
The door slowly opened, and heavy footsteps echoed in the room. Chapter Commander Pedro Canto walked in, his power armor covered in battle marks. His face was stern, his gaze piercing, but a complex emotion flickered in his eyes the moment he saw Hel Blanchett.
"He still hasn't woken up?" Pedro asked in a low voice, a hint of anxiety barely perceptible in his tone.
The medical officer shook his head and replied, "The Grand Marshal's injuries are severe, but our technology has stabilized his vital signs. He needs time, Commander."
Pedro nodded, walked to Heil Blanchett's bedside, and gazed down at his old friend. The two had fought side by side, struggling to survive countless times on the brink of death. Pedro had always admired Heil Blanchett's resilience and courage, and now, seeing the Grand Marshal so weak, an indescribable emotion welled up in Pedro's heart.
“You always work so hard,” Pedro said in a low voice, as if talking to himself, “but this time, you almost didn’t make it back.”
A silence fell over the room, broken only by the beeping of the medical equipment. Pedro's gaze shifted from Heleblanc-Terry's face to the view outside the window. The sky over Vigilant Planet remained gray, as if foreshadowing an uncertain future.
Just then, Hele Blanchett's fingers twitched slightly. Pedro immediately noticed this subtle change, quickly leaned down, and whispered, "Hele Blanchett? Can you hear me?"
The Grand Marshal slowly opened his eyes, his deep gaze still gleaming with unwavering determination. His lips moved slightly, his voice weak yet powerful: "Pedro...you've come!"
Pedro nodded, a rare smile appearing on his lips: "Yes, old friend."
Hele Blanchett struggled to raise her hand and grasp Pedro's arm: "Thank you for coming to see me...!"
Pedro and Canto almost shed tears without realizing it.
“Old friend, you were too reckless this time!” Pedro sighed.
“Just one leg, I injured Voda and Blood Glory!” Heil Blanchett laughed.
