Chapter 241 Son as Doorkeeper, Crew Packing Up
Chapter 241 Son as Doorkeeper, Crew Packing Up
Ning Yao and her group boarded the ship prepared by Wen Tingye and returned to China.
Just as they were boarding the ship, Huo Muxi appeared with his entourage.
She was on a speedboat, which braked suddenly as it approached the shore, splashing up a sky full of white waves.
Ning Moran and Ning Chen reacted quickly, standing like two guardian deities and firmly protecting Ning Yao.
The two boys were mostly soaked, while Ning Yao was completely dry.
Ning Yao, on the other hand, was holding a plastic bucket filled with sea creatures. She opened her big, innocent eyes and blinked them, as if she didn't know what was going on.
Not far away, the dog food users Cui Mengmeng and Xin Yujue had hair that was dripping wet, hanging down their shoulders, looking disheveled.
"I really envy Yao Yao. When will I be able to have a son as big as Ning Moran?" Cui Mengmeng raised her hand to smooth her wet hair and sighed in a deep voice.
“I think I understand why women in the ancient imperial harem insisted on having a child. Having a son is such a blessing.” Xin Yujue agreed. She took out tissues from her bag, pulled out two and handed them to Cui Mengmeng, then buried her head in wiping her clothes.
Huo Muxi got off the speedboat and limped over to Ning Chen. She was no longer as arrogant as when they first met. She looked at Ning Chen pitifully like an abandoned little girl next door, hoping he would give her a ride back to China.
Ning Chen ignored her completely, walked past Huo Muxi without even glancing at her, and went straight into the cabin.
Huo Muxi stomped her foot, gritting her teeth, but she knew that Ning Chen's anger wouldn't dissipate anytime soon.
After watching the boat sail away, Huo Muxi lingered for a while, reluctant to leave, before finally being helped onto the speedboat by his subordinates.
After boarding the ship, Ning Yao had just entered the cabin when a crew member appeared respectfully carrying an exquisite mahogany box.
"You must be Miss Luo Xiyao? This is a gift that Commander Wen instructed us to prepare for you."
Commander Wen?
Ning Yao paused for a moment, then temporarily put down the plastic bucket she was holding.
After receiving the mahogany box, Ning Yao carefully examined its shape.
It was beautifully designed, with a small, cut diamond crown above the clasp that shone brilliantly, reminding Ning Yao of her own wrist. The white flame blood jade shone in the same way, its beauty beyond compare.
With slender, beautiful fingers, she gently pried open the clasp, and the lid popped open.
The box contained crystal-clear, colorful seashells. The seashells had obviously been polished by hand, but the craftsman's skill was superb, making the ordinary seashells shine with extraordinary brilliance, especially in the sunlight, where they looked exceptionally beautiful.
"Commander Wen instructed that this is a gift from the island he prepared for you. He personally went into the sea to collect the seashells, as these are easier to care for than live marine life." The crew member emphasized the last sentence, as this was something Wen Tingye had instructed him to do.
Ning Yao really liked these seashells; collecting so many seashells of different colors must have taken quite a bit of effort.
But Wen Tingye's last sentence was clearly directed at his son Ning Moran, as if he wanted to compete with his son for favor.
Her son personally caught some sea creatures to give to her, and Wen Tingye insisted on personally selecting the seashells and even ordered craftsmen to polish them and put them in such a beautiful little wooden box.
"Wow, it's so beautiful! I never knew seashells could be made like this. They're so translucent after being polished. I've never seen such beautiful seashells before..." Cui Mengmeng was amazed and leaned closer to examine the shape of the seashells.
Xin Yujue also thought it was beautiful. There were at least a dozen seashells in the box, all about the same size, but with different shapes.
It's obvious that he put in a lot of effort; Mr. Wen is trying to win Luo Xiyao's favor...
It turns out that even young masters in wealthy families have such thoughts. She originally thought that young masters from wealthy families would only give money, houses, and cars.
"Pick two you like and keep them as souvenirs." Ning Yao realized that her two roommates really liked these seashells. Anyway, she had about ten, so giving away two wouldn't be a problem.
"Really!" Cui Mengmeng's eyes lit up immediately, just like a child who had received candy.
“Of course it’s true, go ahead and choose,” Ning Yao said with a smile.
Xin Yujue and Cui Mengmeng then stopped being polite and each picked out a seashell, holding it in their hands like a precious treasure.
"Do you want it?" Ning Yao asked, glancing at Ning Moran and Ning Chen as she held the mahogany box.
Both of them shook their heads at the same time; this was something girls liked, and they weren't interested.
Ning Yao had no choice but to give up; she decided to keep the seashells as a keepsake.
I looked down and counted them; there were exactly twelve left. I'll go back and design a way to arrange all these seashells and marine life in my bedroom so I can look at them every day.
Speaking of gifts, Ning Yao remembered that the children's birthdays were coming up soon.
Ai Xiubao and Ranran were both by her side, so she could let them celebrate their birthdays first.
However, six gifts must be prepared so that no child is treated unfairly; everyone must be treated equally.
Ranran is almost nineteen years old. If Aixiu Baoying saw her tall and strong nineteen-year-old brother, who knows what she would think? Not to mention two six-year-old children, even she would be quite surprised when she first met Ning Moran.
How to explain this to Ai Xiubao was also a headache for Ning Yao.
Ning Yao went to the kitchen to make dessert for her son. After she finished making it, she felt that it wasn't right to only prepare one for her son, so she made several more to make sure that everyone could have some, including the crew and the captain.
When Ning Yao brought out the desserts, she noticed that Cui Mengmeng and Xin Yujue didn't seem very interested.
"I'm so sorry that my matter delayed your trip," Ning Yao said sincerely as she placed the desserts on the table.
"Yaoyao, you're overthinking it. That's not why we're unhappy."
"We're upset about the cost of the boat tickets. Hundreds of thousands of dollars have just gone down the drain, and we've only been here for less than two days."
Cui Mengmeng quickly spoke up to explain, while Xin Yujue nodded in agreement, indicating that she shared the same thought as Cui Mengmeng.
"Feeling bad about the boat tickets?" Ning Yao was taken aback for a moment, not expecting her roommates to be unhappy about this.
Didn't she pay for it?
“Yeah, your money didn’t grow on trees. I can’t take it anymore, the more I think about it, the more my heart aches.” Cui Mengmeng clutched her heart and leaned to one side, her eyes glancing at the desserts Ning Yao had made.
“I don’t know who is behind this, it’s terrifying. Yao Yao, you must be careful and don’t go out alone. Tell us where you’re going and we’ll take turns with you!” Xin Yujue thought for a moment, still worried about Luo Xiyao’s situation.
"Alright, it's okay, you don't need to worry about me. Come and have some cake, and some freshly baked cookies, I just made them, have a taste." Ning Yao invited everyone to come and eat.
Ning Moran and Ning Chen were naturally the first to gather at the table. Each of them took a piece of cake, holding their forks but not actually eating it for a long time.
Cui Mengmeng finished her cake, but the two boys hadn't started eating yet. They both took out their phones and took pictures of the cake from various angles, and then posted them on their WeChat Moments.
Ning Chen only added a smiley face emoji, while Ning Moran posted the text: The most delicious cake in the world.
Cui Mengmeng curiously commented on Ning Moran's post on WeChat Moments: "[Haven't even eaten it yet, how do you know it's the most delicious cake in the world?]"
Ning Moran and Ning Chen started eating, their faces full of happiness.
Ning Yao also finished one, frowning as she realized that her dessert-making skills had become rather rusty.
Seeing that her son enjoyed the food, she decided to take some time to practice her cooking skills so she could cook for her children more often in the future.
A crew member walked past the crowd carrying a brand-new, transparent, sealed box containing cream cookies made by Ning Yao.
"What are you doing?" Ning Yao asked curiously.
She didn't make many cookies. They each ate a few and that was it. Where would they get any extra cookies to pack up?
Especially since there was quite a lot inside that box.
The crew member was called to a stop, and immediately turned around respectfully to face Ning Yao, took a step forward, and explained loudly.
"In reply to Miss Luo, this is Commander Wen's request: to pack up the cookies you made yourself and mail them to him."
