Chapter 6 Hunting
Chapter 6 Hunting
Having learned their lesson, the two fledglings dared not act rashly this time.
Thor narrowed his eyes, pondered for a moment, and then gave the order in a low voice.
"Sistana, you flank from the left; Kalp, you go to the right, go upwind, and drive that ibex toward me."
"Don't talk to me like that!"
"If it weren't for the food, I wouldn't bother listening to you."
The two baby dragons mumbled softly, using their sharp snouts to part the grass stalks in front of them, and carefully moved forward.
Thor crouched low, trying to hide himself as much as possible in the weeds, and began to wait patiently.
Time passed slowly, and the two young dragons traced two arcs in the dense grass, gradually approaching the upwind side of the argali.
A gentle breeze blew by, and the herbivore, which had been sleeping, suddenly raised its head.
A sense of danger seemed to permeate the air, making it inexplicably uneasy.
Its small, flexible ears flapped constantly, and although its unique horizontal pupils provided a wide field of vision, the generally poor night vision of herbivores prevented it from seeing its surroundings clearly.
Just then, a faint cracking sound came from upwind, like a dry grass stem being snapped by some creature.
The argali sheep lying in the crevice of the rock immediately leaped up without hesitation, took off running in the opposite direction.
The sound of hurried footsteps jolted Thor awake, his eyes fixed on the swaying blades of grass ahead.
Closer! Closer still! Just as the ibex's running trajectory was about to overlap with his location, when they were only 5 meters apart, the ibex suddenly turned left and fled in another direction.
"Damn it! I've been exposed! What happened?"
Thor didn't have time to think. His short, thick but powerful limbs slammed into the ground, propelling his seven-foot-long body as he chased after him relentlessly.
The power of true dragons is all-encompassing; although their bodies resemble reptiles, their structure is closer to that of a certain feline.
Therefore, they are not only powerful, but also have the ability to move quickly and explode.
Although Thor has only been out of the shell for a short time, he is not slow at all when he runs a short distance.
In addition, blue sheep are not herbivores that are good at running. Unlike antelopes, they are better at climbing steep rock faces.
The distance between them gradually shortened, and when it reached a certain point, Thor immediately leaped up and, using the buoyancy generated by flapping his wings, pounced directly onto the back of the ibex.
Sharp claws pierced the sheepskin, allowing Thor to firmly hold his body in place. With a nimble neck, he stretched downwards, and his mouth, which could open more than 90 degrees, bit down on the ibex's neck.
Even considering various forms of magic and supernatural abilities, the dragon's bite remains one of its most lethal weapons.
Despite being only a little over seven feet long and resembling a young foal, Thor's bite force far surpasses that of a crocodile of similar size.
The ibex, lying on the ground, struggled frantically, but its throat was pierced by tusks, its arteries were compressed, and its brain quickly stopped functioning due to lack of oxygen, leaving it completely still.
Thor rolled over and got up from the ground, opening his blood-stained mouth and panting heavily.
The intense chase wasn't too much of a burden on his body, but the tension in his mind still left him feeling exhausted.
His already rumbling stomach meant he didn't rest for long before turning around and pouncing on the ibex, wolfing down the still steaming mutton.
The strong smell of blood, to the dragons' sense of smell, was as sweet as candy, making them very hungry.
…………
"Gotcha! Gotcha!"
"Damn it, Thor, shut up! There's a share of this in there too!"
Sistana and Kalp quickly arrived from behind, their eyes practically glowing red as they watched Thor feasting.
They tried to pounce without thinking, but Thor suddenly turned around, whipped his tail, and forced them away, growling a warning.
"This is what I caught, my prey! What do you want?"
The two fledglings were naturally unconvinced, lowering their bodies slightly and baring their teeth as they roared:
"How could you have caught it without our help?"
"Hand it over now, or we won't be so polite!"
Faced with the threat of the two fledglings, Thor merely raised his head dismissively.
"Two defeated wretches, yet you dare to spout nonsense in front of me? Haven't I taught you enough lessons?"
But then, as if struck by a sudden thought, he reached out and grabbed the ibex's head, tearing off both of its ribs along with it, and threw it toward Sistana and Kalp.
"Since you all played a small but significant role, I'll take pity on you and give you this as a reward. Eat!"
Looking at the skeletal frame with hardly any meat on it, and seeing Thor's condescending attitude, Sistana and Calp's anger flared up instantly.
Below Thor's gaze, the wonderful characters "Mental Essence Fragment +1" kept appearing.
"You think you can get rid of us with this garbage? What do you take us for?!"
"Damn Thor! Hand over the leg of lamb you've got!"
The two young dragons bypassed the dusty sheep's head and ribs, continuing to approach Thor step by step.
But Saul simply grabbed a leg of lamb, stuffed it into his mouth, and began to tear into it while speaking slowly and deliberately.
"You'd better think this through. Even if you put yourselves together, you're no match for me. If you lose, you won't even get this little bit of meat to eat."
How about this: whoever turns around and grabs that piece of meat first gets to keep it all.
A struggle flashed in Sistana and Kalp's eyes. They hadn't gained any advantage in the previous two battles, and they figured it wouldn't be much different now.
On closer thought, if I could have the whole sheep's head and both ribs all to myself...
The two fledgling dragons glanced at their companion out of the corner of their eyes. Once the seeds of distrust are sown, they will soon take root, sprout, and grow into towering trees.
The next instant, they all turned their heads and fiercely pounced on the sheep's head and ribs on the ground.
"Open your mouth, this is mine!"
"You lowly reptile, this belongs to me!"
In the blink of an eye, Sistana and Kalp were fighting, rolling around on the ground, their previous unity gone.
Thor, who was watching from the sidelines, couldn't help but burst into laughter, his pale gold eyes filled with mockery.
"Two idiots..."
While they were fighting, Thor sped up his eating, tearing off large chunks of flesh and blood and swallowing them whole without chewing.
Anyway, the dragon's stomach is strong enough that there is no need to worry about indigestion.
By the time Sistana and Kalp realized what was happening, most of the meat had already gone into Thor's stomach, and they could only helplessly pick up some scraps and bones.
