Chapter 41 A Showy Personal Display
Chapter 41 A Showy Personal Display
"You little brat, I wouldn't dare lead you."
"Ji Jian, you're being a bit petty."
"Say that again, you brat!"
"Quarterly inspections, with hearts as vast as the ocean."
Back at the Municipal Procuratorate, Qi Tongwei didn't stop for a moment; he rode his secondhand motorcycle directly to the detention center to see Duan Xiaojun.
Duan Xiaojun was overjoyed and wept upon hearing the good news, expressing his gratitude repeatedly.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Qi Tongwei felt uncomfortable. Duan Xiaojun had done nothing wrong, and he should even be grateful to those who hurt him.
"Duan Xiaojun, you'll have to stay inside for a few more days, but you'll be released soon."
"Thank you, prosecutor; thank you, government. I will definitely correct my mistakes."
After meeting Duan Xiaojun, Qi Tongwei, with a mischievous urge, requested to see Yang Ming, and to his surprise, Yang Ming agreed to the meeting.
The two sat in the meeting room. Yang Ming showed no signs of the dejection of a prisoner; his arrogance remained undiminished.
Do you want to know why I agreed to see you?
Qi Tongwei didn't mince words, "I don't want to know. I just want to see you make a fool of yourself."
Yang Ming glared fiercely at Qi Tongwei, "Qi Tongwei, don't think you've won. So what if you're in detention? Once the court sentences you, I can be out anytime soon."
Qi Tongwei shook his head, somewhat helplessly. He knew from what he knew that it was usually a suspended sentence.
"Yang Ming, you won't always be so lucky."
"A country bumpkin like you will never understand what it means to be the child of a high-ranking official. You had a chance, my cousin Liang Lu took pity on you, but you were blind to it," Yang Ming said contemptuously.
Qi Tongwei smiled, a complicated smile, unable to deny the facts Yang Ming had stated.
"Yang Ming, with your pathetic abilities, if I'm not mistaken, you only became the criminal investigation captain because some leader in the police station gave you the green light."
"Making Duan Xiaojun a murderer is your way of infiltrating that leader's ranks. After you get out, Lu Peng will definitely be waiting for you with a lot of money."
Yang Ming was very surprised. Qi Tongwei had guessed everything correctly, so he had to die.
"Qi Tongwei, the more you know, the sooner you'll die, you're just a lowly prosecutor."
Qi Tongwei smiled indifferently, "I suspect there's more to Lu Biao's death than meets the eye, and I'll find out."
Yang Ming had slept with women alongside Lu Biao, so of course he knew why.
"Qi Tongwei, people who are too smart don't live long."
"Thank you for your answer. I will keep an eye on you until you end up in jail."
Enraged, Yang Ming slammed his fists on the table. "Qi Tongwei, you just wait!"
When Qi Tongwei came out of the detention center, the scorching sun was truly scorching.
As someone from a later era, I realize that all organized crime is pretty much the same: corrupt officials protecting their cronies, criminal gangs monopolizing certain industries in a city, and nightclubs being a standard feature.
If the higher-ups dare to investigate, nightclubs are the best entry point.
Lu Peng owns the largest nightclub in Jingzhou. If he's not the mafia boss, then who is?
Qi Tongwei rode his secondhand motorcycle, roaring all the way.
Suddenly, three vans sped up and caught up with them. There were no other cars on the road, and Qi Tongwei didn't pay any attention, even though it was broad daylight.
A van passed him and then suddenly stopped.
Qi Tongwei slammed on the brakes, cursing angrily, "You motherfucker, do you even know how to drive?"
Unexpectedly, the van behind crashed into them.
Qi Tongwei realized the danger and immediately jumped out of the car.
Bang.
With a loud crash, Qi Tongwei's secondhand motorcycle was knocked several meters away.
Before he could even curse, another van rammed into him.
Holy crap, this is going to kill me!
Qi Tongwei leaped over the roof of the van, avoiding the impact.
Suddenly, more than twenty thugs carrying large machetes got out of three vans.
Their hair was dyed in all sorts of colors.
The hairstyles are also varied: some have buzz cuts, some have shaved heads, some have long hair, some have side partings, and some have middle partings.
That middle parting is too much! Who goes around with a traitor's head sticking up like that? You're a disgrace!
The leader is called A-Kun, a fierce henchman of Lu Peng. Isn't Qi Tongwei supposed to be a great fighter? He can take on a dozen people by himself. Well then, I'll arrange for a dozen of you to fight him.
They were all carrying large machetes; being stabbed by one was more serious than being hit by a steel rod.
Qi Tongwei looked at his secondhand motorcycle with a heavy heart. "Damn it," he thought, "if you're going to hit someone, you should just hit them. Why did you have to crash into my car? After that, I'll have to spend money to repair the motorcycle."
Qi Tongwei pulled a baton from his waist, leaving the group of thugs dumbfounded. Was this kid performing magic?
"Lu Peng sent you, didn't he? He's getting impatient; it's just a last-ditch effort."
Ah Kun gripped the large machete; even Baldy had fallen to Qi Tongwei, so he dared not be careless.
You have no right to mention my older brother's name.
"Fuck your sister! Is Lu Peng your father? Why are you defending him like this?"
Qi Tongwei cursed loudly, finding it very satisfying and stress-relieving to swear.
"Is this a prosecutor? Ah Kun is a little confused."
"Brothers, don't hold back, kill him!"
At Ah Kun's command, a group of thugs armed with machetes charged at Qi Tongwei.
Damn it, they really think I'm Rambo, taking down an entire division by myself.
Qi Tongwei took off running, daring Qi to chase him.
The thugs were stunned for a moment. Wasn't he supposed to be a good fighter?
"You son of a bitch, chase after them!"
Immediately, the two sides engaged in a fierce highway chase.
In this world, to rise to the top, there always has to be someone who's willing to fight and take risks, someone who's proactive.
One of the fastest thugs jumped up and slashed at Qi Tongwei with a knife.
Wow, this kid's pretty tough.
Qi Tongwei blocked with his baton and kicked the thug in the chin, sending him crashing to the ground and knocking him unconscious.
"Damn it, don't run away if you dare!"
The thugs were getting desperate.
Qi Tongwei suddenly turned around and killed the two thugs, catching them off guard.
He slashed left and right in one swift motion, leaving the thug with a bloody head.
"Three people will drive back."
Ah Kun turned around and instructed his underlings that Qi Tongwei was too fast-moving, and they were having trouble keeping up with him.
"Brother Kun, do you want to take a break?"
"Stop taking a break my ass! It's so hot, we're tired, but isn't he tired too? Go after him!"
Ah Kun's idea was good, but Qi Tongwei didn't feel tired at all; in fact, he was quite excited.
Some of the thugs were in groups of several, while others were alone. They were spread out like skewers of lamb, each one exhausted and panting heavily.
If not now, when?
Qi Tongwei turned and charged back, his momentum unstoppable, killing anyone who stood in his way. His movements were as fast as lightning. He struck the thug in the face with a stick, kicked him in the chest, and then slammed his knee into the thug's chin in mid-air.
With his gun flashing like a dragon, Qi Tongwei moved with incredible agility, knocking down one thug after another. The thugs behind him were so frightened that they quickly retreated and regrouped.
This flamboyant solo performance saw him take down seven or eight thugs, who lay on the ground, scalded and rolling around.
"Brother Kun, this kid is too weird, he doesn't seem tired at all."
The thug was still shaken; he had almost been caught by Qi Tongwei and had to use all his strength from when he was a child to escape.
Ah Kun kicked his underling in the butt, "Stop trying to scare him, isn't he sweating buckets?"
