Chapter 181 Siuks
'A stubborn old man.'
I looked at myself, thinking to myself. As I explored the Shadow Armor, I noticed a peculiar property of the garment.
'I can change its shape.'
In the past, whenever I used this armor, I found it to be quite impractical. First, I had to wear it under my clothes, and second, its enchantment functions were too limited.
But things are different now.
I can now change its appearance at will, and I now wear this armor as my everyday clothing. It also has temperature-regulating properties.
There's a small rune here.
With runes as an energy source, I can control the internal temperature. Combined with the [Transforming Metal] function, this armor has now become a unique masterpiece.
Now, everything is ready.
After checking everything, I left the room.
As I headed to the meeting point and switched my Shadow Armor to its casual mode, I encountered Sylvie in the corridor. She looked up from the book she was reading and gave me a gentle smile.
"Good morning," she greeted me, looking at me.
'It seems she's waiting for me.'
“Good morning,” I replied, looking at her. She was dressed well and seemed to be in a good mood, as if she was looking forward to the trip.
Are you looking forward to this trip?
Sylvie nodded. "Yes, I've never been on a trip like this before."
Do you like to travel?
"like."
"Then why don't you join a travel agency?"
Although the club's name is "Adventure Club," there's no need to be so concerned about the details.
"Hmm... I like to travel, but I don't like to travel too often. It's too tiring."
"Hmm... but we don't go out that often, do we?"
"Us? You joined a travel agency?"
"Yes."
How often do you go out?
“We only went out once, and we haven’t gone out since.”
"Once? Isn't that a bit too few?"
"That's indeed a bit too little."
Now that Sylvie brought this up, it suddenly reminded me of what should have happened with the tour group. There should have been another trip, but it didn't take place.
There could be many reasons, but if I were to point out one, it would be the monsters that appeared during my travels in the city of Nissolia.
In the game, I was unaware of this happening, and it's a consequence of what happened from the beginning. This might be the reason another trip didn't take place. The academy, for the safety of its students, may have decided to cancel it.
'However, now that they've allowed the Maya to participate, the community should become active again.'
Do you know where we're going today?
Sylvie's eyes lit up, and she took a folded piece of paper out of her bag. "Yes, Senior Maya gave us this map. We're going to Xiux, which is famous for magic and ancient ruins."
“Siux…” I repeated, the name sounding somewhat familiar.
This is a special place, with many ancient ruins and a gathering place for many researchers.
Sylvie smiled, seemingly pleased with my approval. "Yes, that's right. It's known for its rich history and magical anomalies. Senior Maya mentioned that it hides some secrets waiting to be discovered."
As we continued our conversation, we arrived at the meeting point, where the other members were already gathered. Maya was already there, full of enthusiasm for the upcoming journey.
"Junior, you've arrived."
She greeted me immediately, and the club's vice president stood next to her.
Good morning, senior.
A mischievous glint flashed in her eyes. "Junior, are you looking forward to this trip?"
I nodded, my expression calm. "Looking forward to it."
She smiled. "Always so calm, well, get ready for whatever Sius has in store for us."
We waited for a while, and soon the last few members arrived.
Mason and his friends joined the group, adding a different atmosphere. Mason, as always, sported his "charming" smile.
"Sorry I'm late," he said, glancing at the line.
He's very good at controlling his facial expressions.
If it weren't for my [insight and perception] and sensitivity to demonic energy, I might have been fooled by him too.
But I could clearly sense that his equipment had been upgraded, and the fluctuations of his demonic energy had changed. Clearly, he had made considerable preparations for this, and it seemed no one had noticed.
'Except for Sylvie.'
Her expression turned serious, her eyes narrowed slightly, and she gripped the sleeve of her sweatshirt tightly. Knowing her habits, I knew this was how she acted when she was frustrated or angry about something.
I also noticed that when Mason scanned the group, he briefly glanced at Sylvie and me, his gaze carrying an unusual undertone.
Snapped!
Just then, a clap of hands pulled me back to reality.
"Now that everyone is here, let's set off."
Maya smiled, her enthusiasm undiminished. "Let's make this journey unforgettable, everyone! We will learn, explore, and perhaps even unravel some historical mysteries. Now, let's go!"
After saying that, Maya led the way. First, a small bus took us to the portal to Arcadia City.
When we arrived at the portal to Xiwux, the atmosphere was filled with excitement and anticipation.
"We have reserved portal B128."
"Portal B128, please wait... Is this Miss Maya?"
"Yes."
"Your reservation has been confirmed. Please follow me, my colleague will take you to the portal."
The Federation's procedures are essentially the same as the black market. There are countless different portals around, reminiscent of those portals that take you to the entrance of a dungeon.
“Wow…” I’ve used this portal before when I went to Nisolia City, but it was obviously Sylvie’s first time, as she kept looking around.
"This is amazing, I've never seen so many portals before."
I nodded in agreement. "Indeed, advancements in magical transportation have made long-distance travel much more convenient. There's no longer a need to traverse rugged terrain... but that's only for the wealthy."
"……yes."
As we approached the designated portal, the guide led us forward, and we entered the portal one by one.
Surrounded by that pulsating vortex of energy, the surrounding scenery instantly changed.
"Hello."
Another guide appeared before us.
"Are you from the Arcadia Hunter Academy?"
It seems he's been waiting for us.
"Yes, that's right."
The guide smiled. "Welcome to West Oaksbridge. I will assist you and take you to Mr. Jones's research site. He's the one who informed me."
"I'll visit him later, thank you."
"no problem."
After the guide and Maya exchanged greetings and a few words, we began our journey.
Compared to other cities, the teleportation hall is quite small, mainly because Sius is not a highly developed city. The only reason the teleportation portal exists is that researchers hope to share their experience with the Magic Tower and the Federation.
As we stepped out of the hall, the city unfolded before us, revealing an atmosphere quite different from the bustling capital. Sius had an ancient, understated feel. Cobblestone streets meandered through the city center, flanked by buildings that seemed to whisper tales of a distant past.
Sylvie looked around in surprise, her eyes admiring the ancient buildings and the faded beauty of the surroundings. A sense of tranquility permeated the air, a stark contrast to the environment of Arcadia.
“Welcome to Siux, a city frozen in time,” the guide announced, pointing to the ancient buildings and the exquisite carvings adorning them.
"Many unsolved secrets are hidden here, and today you will have the opportunity to witness some of these mysteries."
His description is not an exaggeration.
This city truly has an atmosphere of time frozen in time. Although time has not stopped flowing, the ancient ruins and preserved traditions make this city feel as if it has stepped back in time.
“This place is completely different from where we live,” Sylvie exclaimed, her voice filled with admiration.
I nodded in agreement. "It's like stepping into a living history book. Sius has its own unique charm, a different kind of beauty."
This reminds me of my time on Earth, and I feel very nostalgic. Most cities have modernized, but some still retain their unique character.
"Then, please follow me."
Maya and her guide led us through winding streets, and as we ventured deeper into the city, the magical atmosphere in the air became even more pronounced.
