Chapter 26 Reunion
Chapter 26 Reunion
"The sound was like a tiger and a bull. We were just a few hundred meters north of the center of the ancient tomb, and the sound came from due north. It's a winding road here, so it must have been at least several kilometers away from us. For it to travel for so long without dissipating, it must be more than just a ferocious beast!"
“Dragon’s roar…” Zhang Qiling said in a low voice. Except for Black Eyes, no one else heard him clearly. Just as they were about to ask again, Zhang Qiling had already closed his eyes to rest.
The man with black glasses didn't ask any questions, but he glanced at Zhang Qiling thoughtfully, then put his hands behind his back, leaned lazily against the stone pillar, and gave a half-smile.
“Whatever it is, we should repay kindness, but if it’s malicious, we’re not afraid of it with so many of us. Bandage the wound, rest for a while, and we’ll know once we go and see!” Wu Sansheng made the final decision.
It was 1 p.m., and there was still a long time before it got dark. After resting for half an hour, the group continued northward toward the ancient tomb.
As she got closer to the tomb chamber where she had met Yan Huai, Ah Ning, who had been trying her best to remain invisible, became more and more uneasy. She had a vague feeling that Yan Huai was not only still alive, but also still remembered what she had said before.
Judging from that man's skills and fighting style, Ah Ning thought that if her group encountered him, they might not fare well. Moreover, since she had cheated first, she would not only be in the wrong, but would also likely become the target of attack. No matter how you looked at it, it would be disadvantageous for her.
Wu Xie, who was walking beside her, noticed that A Ning was acting strangely. Since she was a girl, he asked her with concern, "What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"
Ah Ning immediately composed herself, shook her head with a cold face, and said, "It's nothing!"
Seeing this, Wu Xie could only smile helplessly and shut his mouth.
As the group drew closer to the tomb chamber, Zhang Qiling suddenly gave a warning: "There's a smell of blood!"
Black Glasses had already reached the front. He was slightly hunched over and pulled out a dagger from his waistband. The people not far behind him were also on guard.
Shortly after, Black Glasses made a gesture and then leaned into the tomb chamber first, indicating that they should wait outside for a signal or message.
Wu Sansheng and a few others understood and waited at the entrance of the tomb.
At this moment, all around was silent. After a few minutes, Black Glasses returned, still wearing that smug, nonchalant smile.
"There is a sacrificial altar inside, but it has been built into the shape of a tomb. There are many blood corpses inside, but there is nothing else."
"A blood corpse!? A corpse!?" The fear that had gripped everyone before by the blood corpse surged back, but Ah Ning remained calm.
"To be precise, they are the corpses of infected humans turned into blood zombies." Black Glasses snapped his fingers, correcting his statement, and then looked at Ah Ning. "Look! She's dressed just like her." Like they were on the same team.
Now, everyone's attention was focused on Ah Ning, but she herself didn't seem to feel uncomfortable at all.
"Hey, I'm telling you, such a coincidence might happen outside, but it's not common underground!" Fatty Wang had long disliked Ah Ning, and now that he had an excuse, he was ready to unleash a torrent of abuse. "Tell me! Do you know anyone in there?"
“They are my team members.” A Ning’s tone was completely flat, as if the people inside were the eternal lamps in the tomb, something she was used to and took for granted.
"Your team is in the north, so how did you end up in the south?!" Fatty Wang said in an unfriendly tone. "Could it be that these people turned into blood zombies and died because of you?!"
Ah Ning reacted this time, her cold gaze shooting at Fatty Wang as if she wanted to rip off his fat: "They asked for it, it has nothing to do with me."
That was a much colder way of saying it, but it was an internal matter for the team, so everyone just sighed inwardly and didn't say it out loud.
"Then what did you mean when you told us to run north?" Da Pan's voice turned hostile. "There are blood corpses here, and you still led us here!"
"They were already dead when I left." Ah Ning frowned, thinking this person was out of their mind!
"Who could have done it?"
Wu Xie felt that although Ah Ning had this kind of personality, she shouldn't be capable of killing her own teammates. In addition, given the critical situation before, it was very likely that the other party just thought that there was something here that might guarantee everyone's safety.
“I met someone before.” Ah Ning felt a little relieved. Well, at least there was someone sensible. “He killed all the people who underwent the mutation.”
"Good heavens! There are still people here!?" Fatty Wang rolled his eyes speechlessly. There weren't many treasures in this tomb, but there were as many people as at a vegetable market.
"Where is that person now?"
"I don't know. He said he got lost from his companions, but I guess he's found them by now!" Ah Ning recalled that the man's seemingly dull-witted manner, but ruthless nature when it came to killing, and she was somewhat convinced that he could really get separated from his companions.
"So he's not the only one. Everyone should be on their guard from now on, so as not to fall into a trap."
Wu Sansheng's words have two meanings: one is the person who got lost, and the other is A Ning. It's not directed at the latter, but rather out of wariness towards strangers.
"Let's go!"
The group entered the tomb chamber one after another, and a strong smell of blood immediately filled their nostrils.
Wu Xie had never smelled anything like it before, and it felt much more disgusting than the big black dog he had encountered earlier. He couldn't help but lean against a corner and dry heave a few times, while Da Pan stood behind him patting his back.
"Little Innocent, are you alright?" Fatty Wang teased, leaning against the wall of the tomb chamber, but his eyes held a hint of concern.
Wu Xie waved his hand without saying a word. He didn't want to breathe right now; if he did, that smell would rush up and he wouldn't be able to handle it.
Ah Ning glanced at her sideways, about to call her useless, but then she remembered that Wu Xie had been helping her walk and hadn't questioned her or said anything sarcastic. So she decided against it...
Seeing this, Wu Sansheng just sighed. This was Wu Xie's first time going down into a tomb, and he hadn't expected to encounter so many things. He decided to let him be this time and take it slowly in the future.
Seeing that there was nothing going on here, Fatty Wang ran over to check the blood-soaked corpses on the ground with Zhang Qiling and the others. But before long, he couldn't stay still. Since he couldn't figure out anything, he went to wander around elsewhere, hoping to find some treasures along the way!
"The cuts were clean and sharp, clearly from a knife wound, and with considerable force. Apart from that one, all the other cuts were made with a single, decisive stroke!"
Black Glasses stood up, pointed to one of the bloodied corpses, adjusted his sunglasses, and said, "Besides that, there are also traces of daggers. I've seen Ah Ning's dagger, so she must have been involved too."
"Hmm, these knife marks are all very similar, it really looks like they were done by one person. That person is probably quite skilled, we need to be careful from now on."
"Ok!"
"Ah—" Just as the group was about to check for any other clues, they suddenly heard a strange cry that sounded somewhat familiar. Turning around, they saw that it was indeed Fatty Wang.
besides......
"Brother Yan?" Wu Xie stared wide-eyed at the figure staggering out of the passage. How could he have become like this...?
