Chapter 2 Miss 2 is missing!
Chapter 2 Miss 2 is missing!
The next morning.
Inside the south courtyard of the General's Mansion, Su Huayue, dressed in a bright red wedding gown, sat gracefully in front of her dressing table.
Four maids were busy dressing her up.
"Miss, you are naturally beautiful, and few in the entire capital can compare. With just a little makeup, you can dazzle everyone. Tonight, His Highness Prince Chu will definitely be stunned when he sees you!" Chunmei said with a grin.
Xia Zhu quickly chimed in, "That's right! Who in the entire capital doesn't know that our young lady is an absolute beauty? Countless talented men yearn to catch a glimpse of her! This is a real boon for His Highness Prince Chu!"
Su Huayue was quite pleased with what she heard, but still scolded, "You two are just talking nonsense! His Highness Prince Chu is a prince, don't be so disrespectful! The four of you are going to marry into the Prince Chu's mansion with me, so you'd better watch your words and not be so rude!"
The four personal maids responded in unison, "Yes, sir!"
Su Huayue's lips curled up slightly, revealing a smug look.
Her slender fingers lightly brushed across the dressing table, finally picking up a red hairpin with phoenix tail feathers.
She gestured lightly in front of the bronze mirror, her eyes casually glancing to the side as she asked in a nonchalant tone, "Any new developments over in the North Courtyard?"
Chunmei's eyes darted around, and she whispered, "I just passed by, and there wasn't a sound from inside the house."
Upon hearing this, Su Huayue paused in her eyebrow pencil, her carefully drawn eyebrows slightly arched upwards.
"No movement? Didn't Mother send anyone over?"
As Chunmei tidied the dressing table, she lowered her voice and said, "Madam did indeed send someone. I saw Xiaoru go in with three people this morning."
Xiaoru, who had served General Su Liushi as her personal maid for many years, was always reliable in her work.
But a strange unease welled up in Su Huayue's heart. She gently nudged Chunmei, "Go and check again. I just don't feel at ease."
Chunmei responded and left.
Xia Zhu and the others exchanged glances, feeling that their young lady was overthinking things.
"Don't worry, Miss. Wasn't the Second Miss poisoned with muscle-weakening powder? Without the antidote, what trouble can she cause?"
Su Huayue relaxed slightly: "You're right, how could I have forgotten that—"
Before the words were finished, Chunmei's panicked voice came from outside: "Miss, something terrible has happened! Second Miss is missing!"
Su Huayue suddenly stood up: "What did you say?"
Moments later, the general's mansion was in complete chaos.
Su Yuandao's face was ashen: "Even if we have to search the entire capital, we must find the Second Miss!"
Dozens of guards in tight-fitting clothes stood in the courtyard, and they all lowered their heads upon hearing this.
"Yes, General!"
Su Liu's expression was unpredictable at this moment. Only after the guards had gone far away did she start to act coquettishly towards Su Yuandao.
"General, I have always treated Wan'er with utmost care. Could her behavior today indicate that she has some dissatisfaction with me?"
Su Yuandao softened his tone, his previous stern expression fading slightly: "It has nothing to do with you; it's just that Wan'er is too stubborn. Don't worry, we'll definitely find her."
Madam Su feigned wiping away tears and said, "I originally disagreed with the idea of swapping Wan'er and Yue'er's marriages, but now it seems the General was truly farsighted! Wan'er's personality is indeed more suitable for marrying into the Prince of Qin's household!"
After saying that, she secretly observed Su Yuandao's reaction.
Su Yuandao said in a deep voice, "Wan'er was spoiled rotten in the Northern Frontier! Don't worry, no matter what happens to Wan'er, Yue'er will definitely marry into the Chu Prince's Mansion as promised."
Having received assurances, Madam Su pretended to wipe away tears and said, "Master truly loves Yue'er the most!"
After receiving comfort from Su Yuandao, Su Liushi took her leave.
Just as they arrived at the entrance of the South Courtyard, they bumped into Su Huayue, who looked flustered, followed by four maids.
Su Huayue asked anxiously, "Mother, didn't you send people to keep an eye on her? How could that bitch have gotten away?"
Su Liu glared at her and said in a low voice, "Watch your words!"
Su Huayue immediately lowered her voice as well. Dressed in a phoenix coronet and wedding gown, her face was somewhat pale: "Mother, that wretched girl ran away! Will she try to ruin my marriage?"
Madam Su gently patted her daughter's hand to comfort her, then sneered, "Hmph! Sabotage? She doesn't have that ability! Your father has already sent people to search everywhere, and Su Mobai is about to return. No matter how capable she is, she'll have to obediently marry into the Qin Prince's mansion!"
