Chapter 187: Learning to Be Perfect for Him
Chapter 187: Learning to Be Perfect for Him
When he finally found his voice, it was tight with anger.
"You are completely insane."
Without giving Kevin another second of his time, Adrian pulled out his phone and quickly dialed Matteo’s private number. Then he turned on his heel to storm back upstairs, but before he could even take two steps, Kevin’s voice cut through the room again.
"Think about it, Adrian," Kevin sneered, clearly trying to get under his skin. "The doctor practically gave the two of you permission, and Matteo still walked away."
A cruel smile tugged at his lips.
"If you were really that irresistible, do you honestly think a few restrictions would’ve stopped him? Any man who truly can’t get enough of his partner would’ve stayed."
Kevin shrugged mockingly.
"But he didn’t. He left. Maybe the problem isn’t the doctor’s report. Maybe you’re just not as exciting as you think you are."
Adrian turned around slowly, his chest heaving as he prepared to speak. But Kevin quickly pressed on, trying to land one final blow.
"Who knows?" He scoffed. "Maybe Matteo is only with you because he feels sorry for you. Maybe he’s not actually in love with you."
The anger flashing in Adrian’s eyes made Kevin falter for a moment.
He quickly raised his hands. "Hey, I’m not saying he doesn’t love you," he added quickly. "I’m just saying... maybe you’re not as important to him as you think."
The words hit Adrian hard, but he refused to let Kevin win.
Instead of losing his temper, Adrian let out a cold, mocking laugh that echoed through the living room, immediately cutting Kevin off.
He dropped the phone from his ear and turned back to Kevin, looking at him as though he had just said the most ridiculous thing imaginable.
"I can’t even blame you for being this pathetic, Kevin," Adrian said, his voice dripping with absolute scorn. "Because I bet in your sad, miserable life, you have never once experienced the kind of pure, loyal love that Matteo shares with me. You think you’re clever, but your lies are just sad."
Adrian took a step forward, commanding the space and completely putting Kevin in his place. "I love him so much, and he loves me deeply. Think about it, you idiot, if a single word of your little fantasy were true, why would he still be right here by my side? The man wouldn’t even let me go back to my own place. He spent days on end in a hospital room to watch over me. He literally just handed me his unlimited black card this morning to do whatever I want with it, purely because he wants to spoil me."
Adrian tilted his head, his eyes narrowing into sharp slits as he delivered a devastating insult. "The truth is, the love between me and Matteo is something a man like you will never, ever experience in your entire life, no matter how hard you try or how desperate you get. You are a temporary distraction, but I am his entire world."
Adrian made it clear that his bond with Matteo was unbreakable.
"I trust Matteo with my life, and I know my baby wouldn’t dare go outside just to look for cheap sex, no matter what a doctor’s report says. He values my health because he’s building a future with me. He’s not a dog on a leash looking for a quick fix like the men you’re used to dealing with."
Kevin froze, the smug smirk completely wiping off his face. His mouth parted, but no words came out. He looked entirely speechless, utterly crushed under the weight of Adrian’s confidence and sharp tongue. He couldn’t find a single word to fight back.
Seeing that Kevin was silenced and humiliated, Adrian let out a loud, dismissive scoff. He turned on his heel, completely ignoring the stunned man, and confidently marched back upstairs to their bedroom.
But the moment he stepped inside the safety of their room, the brave front he had maintained downstairs began to crack. His heart pounded against his ribs as he paced across the floor, immediately pulling out his phone and calling Matteo.
It rang all the way through to voicemail.
Adrian swallowed past the lump in his throat, dialing a second time. Again, no answer. He strictly refused to believe a single malicious word that had come out of Kevin’s mouth, but a nagging, anxious whisper in the back of his mind kept asking: Why isn’t Matteo picking up?
Taking a deep, stabilizing breath, Adrian made a firm decision. He wouldn’t tell Matteo about Kevin’s toxic taunts. He didn’t want to seem like he was constantly complaining or bringing drama into the house. Instead, he decided to use this unsettling moment as an opportunity to work on himself, learn, and grow more confident.
A quiet insecurity began to settle into his chest. What if he truly was inexperienced? Before falling in love with Matteo, Adrian had lived his life as a straight man. He had never learned or fully understood the mechanics, the nuances, and the desires involved in intimacy between two men.
Determined to bridge that gap, Adrian sat on the edge of the bed, unlocked his phone, and opened a browser tab. With a slight flush creeping up his neck, he began searching for guides on how to thoroughly satisfy his partner, how to understand the physical connection between men, and how to navigate their intimate life seamlessly once he was fully recovered.
He became entirely absorbed, reading through articles, advice forums, and educational blogs for hours. He was so deeply hyper-focused that he barely noticed the passage of time, until the heavy bedroom door finally clicked open and Matteo stepped inside.
Adrian snapped his head up from the screen, his eyes wide. "Babe, where have you been?"
"I was up on the rooftop with Mark," Matteo replied gently as he closed the door behind him. "We were having a drink and talking about a few things."
His brow furrowed slightly as he took in Adrian’s expression. "Why are you asking? Is everything okay? Did something happen, love?"
"I’ve been looking for you everywhere," Adrian murmured, his voice carrying a trace of the vulnerability he was trying to hide. "I called you twice and you didn’t pick up."
Matteo quickly pulled his phone from his pocket, his thumb tapping the screen. A look of immediate regret crossed his features. "Damn, I’m sorry, babe. I put it on total silence while I was busy. I didn’t see the notifications." He walked closer to the bed, offering a warm, apologetic smile. "Do you need me to do something for you?"
Adrian shook his head, shifting his gaze back down to his lap. "No... I was just looking for you."
Matteo studied him for a second, noticing the slight distance, but decided not to push just yet. "Alright. Come on, let’s go downstairs and have dinner."
"I’m not hungry," Adrian answered flatly, already scrolling back through his browser window, completely immersing himself in the text again.
"I’m not hungry," Adrian replied flatly, already turning his attention back to his phone.
"Why aren’t you hungry, Rian? You barely ate anything at lunch," Matteo pressed, stepping closer.
But Adrian was barely listening. His eyes remained fixed on the screen as he continued reading, completely absorbed in the article and oblivious to Matteo’s concern.
Recognizing that stubborn, hyper-focused look, Matteo sighed softly.
"Alright, I won’t force you to go downstairs," he said. "I’ll ask Selene to bring dinner up to the room instead."
"Alright," Adrian muttered, not looking up.
When the food arrived, Matteo practically had to force Adrian to take a few bites, gently coaxing the spoon into his hand. Even while chewing, Adrian’s gaze remained glued to the glowing screen. He had just transitioned from reading articles to a section that suggested watching adult film content between men to better understand the rhythm, positioning, and visual cues of intimacy.
Matteo watched him the entire time, his brow furrowing deeper and deeper.
Usually, Adrian would be clinging to him, talking about his day or asking for kisses. Tonight, Matteo could say an entire sentence, and Adrian wouldn’t even blink, completely lost in whatever was on that screen.
As the night progressed, the strange distance only grew.
Before going to bed, Matteo went into the bathroom to take a warm shower. When he came out, steam clinging to his broad shoulders, Adrian was still in the same position, staring intensely at his phone.
Matteo quietly changed for the night, slipping into his silk lounge pants. Not once did Adrian look up from his phone.
A restless feeling settled over Matteo as he stepped out onto the balcony and lit a cigarette. He watched the smoke curl into the night air, his mind turning over everything that had happened that day.
Through the glass doors, he could still see Adrian sitting in the same spot, completely captivated by his phone.
When Matteo finally came back inside to turn off the main lights, Adrian suddenly shifted. He curled tightly onto his side of the mattress, facing away from the center of the bed, and pulled the heavy duvet entirely over his head.
Beneath the covers, he slipped his wireless earpods into his ears, blocking out the ambient sounds of the room as he clicked play on a series of recommended porn videos.
Matteo climbed into bed, lying flat on his back in the dim moonlight, trying to understand what on earth his partner was doing under there.
Beneath the darkness of the blanket, Adrian watched several porn videos, his chest heaving as the visual information flooded his mind.
He watched closely, learning, analyzing until the friction of the explicit visuals caught up with him, and he suddenly realized he was getting intensely hard. A wave of heat rushed through his body. Panicking, he instantly locked his phone, pulled out his earpods, and reached out from under the duvet to put the device face-down onto the nightstand.
He desperately wanted to crawl across the mattress...
