Chapter 625: Disappointment
Chapter 625: Disappointment
Yet Nate remained completely unconcerned.
"If it’s only about money, then I can provide as much as necessary," he replied calmly. "There is no need to worry about finances."
Hearing those words, Kai nearly lost control of his temper.
"It’s not only about money!" he snapped angrily. "It’s also about time! Why are we wasting our efforts on someone so troublesome? We have been monitoring Aurora’s family ever since she was six years old, yet even after all these years, we still cannot fully control the situation. Isn’t that already a huge problem?"
However, Nate’s expression never changed.
"If you truly find this troublesome," he replied coldly, "then you are free to leave the institute."
Kai clenched his jaw tightly but could not say another word. In the end, everyone could only abandon the idea of changing the target completely.
After the meeting ended, Nate left in an extremely foul mood.
In fact, his mood was so terrible that he went on a killing spree afterward.
Because of his immense power and influence, Nate was deeply involved in numerous government activities.
Over the years, he had secretly gathered countless powerful backers behind him, making it almost impossible for ordinary people to oppose him.
That night, several young women with red hair mysteriously disappeared.
Especially women who resembled Aurora. The reason was simple. Nate hated Aurora.
He hated her so deeply that the mere thought of her existence filled him with uncontrollable rage. He wanted nothing more than to personally destroy her with his own hands.
As memories of his previous life surfaced in his mind, his eyes became colder and colder.
In that life, both he and Aurora belonged to the interstellar world. Again and again, Aurora cornered him until he eventually reached complete desperation.
In the end, he created a time machine in order to escape and rewrite everything.
However, something went terribly wrong.
Instead of arriving twenty years in the past as planned, he was sent twenty millennia backward instead.
When he first arrived on Earth, resentment completely consumed him.
At first, he only thought about finding a way to return to his original timeline. In order to accomplish that goal, he needed immense wealth and resources.
That was how he eventually joined forces with Kai and established the strange research institute.
Because he possessed advanced knowledge from the interstellar world, including futuristic technologies and cosmetic sciences, he quickly became unimaginably wealthy.
Everything continued smoothly until the day he saw Aurora again.
At that time, she was only six years old.
Yet how could he possibly forget that woman?
From that moment onward, he became determined to make her life a living hell. However, he did not want to destroy her immediately.
Instead, he wanted to slowly crush her spirit piece by piece. He intentionally allowed her to experience hope for years before planning to rip everything away from her once she had something worth protecting.
But for some unknown reason, Aurora suddenly changed after waking up from her coma.
The change was so unnatural that even Nate began suspecting something impossible.
’Did she regain memories from her previous life as well?’ he wondered darkly.
If Aurora truly remembered the past, then she would definitely recognize him.
After all, Nate was her stepbrother from their previous life.
Back then, Aurora had destroyed not only him but also his father.
And she had even caused the downfall of Nate’s mother.
Ever since witnessing his mother’s death, Nate’s hatred for her soared.
When he first traveled through time in hopes of changing everything, who could have imagined that he would end up trapped inside an entirely unfamiliar era?
Everything around him felt wrong.
The skies, the cities, the technology, even the people were different from the world he once knew.
It was as though fate itself had mocked him and thrown him into a prison built from time.
Yet despite everything, he endured.
There was only one reason he continued moving forward.
Aurora.
Every painful step he took, every scheme he built, and every ounce of hatred festering inside his chest existed solely to make Aurora’s life miserable.
And now, seeing her rise higher and higher, becoming increasingly untouchable, filled him with unbearable fury.
How could he possibly sit back and watch her continue climbing toward greatness?
His fingers slowly tightened into fists.
"Aurora..." he muttered softly, his voice dripping with hatred.
"Just you wait. I will definitely... definitely drag you down from that pedestal."
The moment those words left his mouth, a chilling voice suddenly echoed directly inside his mind.
"Nate."
Nate’s entire body instantly stiffened.
The voice continued calmly, yet every syllable carried terrifying authority.
"I have given you so much time and invested countless resources into you. Do not disappoint me."
Nate immediately lowered his head respectfully, his heart pounding violently.
"Yes... yes, Supreme," he replied hurriedly. "I will not disappoint you."
The Supreme Entity remained silent for a brief moment before speaking again.
"You may use whatever methods or resources you desire, but remember one thing. I expect absolute results."
"If I become disappointed," the entity continued coldly, "then you will understand what true disappointment feels like."
Hearing those words, Nate’s throat turned dry.
Even someone as ruthless as him could not suppress the fear crawling beneath his skin.
"I understand," he answered quietly while lowering his head further.
In truth, the time machine Nate created had completely malfunctioned back then. During the accident, he had nearly died.
However, at the edge of death, he encountered the mysterious Supreme Entity.
That being had given him a task.
A terrifying task.
The entity wanted the entire world transformed into something beyond ordinary human understanding.
At first, the mission sounded absurd, almost insane, as though it came from the mind of a lunatic.
Even Nate himself once questioned whether the entity’s goals were truly possible.
But everything changed after the Supreme Entity granted him a second life.
Not only that, the entity had even mysteriously brought his dead mother into this world.
That single act completely shattered Nate’s hesitation.
Thinking about the possibility of reviving his mother entirely, Nate’s eyes darkened with obsession.
That was also another reason he absolutely refused to shift the target away from Aurora.
The Supreme Entity specifically wanted Aurora’s life destroyed.
And in exchange, Nate’s mother would return to him completely.
Nate did not know why the entity hated Aurora so much, nor did he care.
All he knew was that someone powerful enough to manipulate life and death had handed him an opportunity he could never reject.
So he accepted.
Taking a deep breath, Nate eventually returned to his apartment.
After sitting down on the couch, Nate swallowed nervously before speaking into the empty room.
"I’m ready."
In fact, the Supreme Entity summoned him almost every single night.
Whenever Nate failed to produce satisfactory results he would be punished.
The next moment, an unbearable wave of energy surged violently through his body.
It felt as though millions of volts of electricity were tearing through every nerve and bone inside him.
Yet Nate did not scream.
He endured it silently.
He endured until his lips lost all color and his vision blurred completely.
Finally, his body collapsed onto the floor.
When Nate slowly opened his eyes again, he found himself hearing the Supreme Entity once more.
The Supreme Entity looked down at him calmly.
"Good boy," the entity spoke softly.
Nate immediately lowered his head respectfully.
"There is no need to speak," the Supreme Entity continued. "I have already gathered additional information regarding Aurora that may prove useful to you."
The moment those words were spoken, Nate’s breathing quickened slightly.
"How about receiving this information directly?" the entity asked calmly.
Nate instantly nodded.
"Thank you, Supreme," he replied respectfully. "I truly appreciate it."
The next second, countless streams of information flooded directly into his mind.
Nate’s eyes widened abruptly.
When he finally processed everything, complete disbelief filled his expression.
The most influential investor operating secretly throughout the country... was Aurora herself.
Nate froze.
At that moment, he finally understood why taking Aurora down had become so impossibly difficult.
After calming himself slightly, his expression gradually turned colder.
’She cannot be allowed to continue living,’ he thought darkly.
He immediately began tracing all the people connected to her.
The deeper he investigated, the worse his headache became.
Theodore was connected to the daughter of an extremely influential critic.
Olivia had ties with dangerous half-mafia figures.
Adriana was linked to one of the richest families in the nation.
Adam himself belonged to a wealthy and influential background.
And then there was Aurora standing at the center of everything.
The more Nate discovered, the more terrifying Aurora’s network appeared.
"She’s a ticking time bomb..." he muttered under his breath.
Just as he was wondering how to destroy them all at once, his phone suddenly vibrated.
It was a message from the institute.
After reading it, Nate’s eyes narrowed dangerously.
It turned out that the Richardson family had started using their underworld connections to investigate the institute members.
And they were definitely not doing it out of goodwill.
The moment Nate understood the situation, he calmly closed his phone.
A cruel smile slowly formed across his lips.
"Then I’ll start with the Richardson family first."
