The Wicked Female Is Wild and Scheming, Living in a Love Battlefield Every Day

Chapter 512 - 385: Arrangements

Chapter 512 - 385: Arrangements

The two of them quickly left the courtyard.

Spring sunlight bathed their bodies, warm and comforting, with the air filled with the fresh scent of earth and grass.

"Cultivation is something that follows its own course; you can’t force it."

As she walked, Luna spoke, turning her head to look at Kian Sterling, who was still looking dejected. "Corbin, Rhys, and the others may be a bit more advanced than you now, but that all came down to luck. It doesn’t mean you’re any less capable. You’re already cultivating very quickly. It’s only a matter of time before you catch up. But if you force a breakthrough and hurt your foundation, that would be a terrible trade-off."

Kian pulled at the corner of his mouth; he knew this perfectly well in his heart.

Looking back, he deserved everything he got—it was like dropping a rock on his own feet.

If only he hadn’t set up Malachi Arcanus and Mael Valerius back then and thrown them into The Endless Abyss, they never would have had the chance to get those opportunities.

If they hadn’t gotten those fortuitous chances, there wouldn’t be such a gap in strength between him and them now.

Who knows, maybe Corbin, Rhys, Zeke, Malachi, and the rest would all still be stuck at the Peak of the Twelfth Level of Qi Refining like him.

But there’s no use crying over spilled milk.

Thinking about these things now is just adding unnecessary worry.

Kian quickly got his mood under control and smiled at her. "You’re right, Luna. I was just being too impatient."

Luna was secretly relieved to see he’d listened.

She really worried about Kian getting stuck in a rut. This man tended to bottle everything up inside.

In the long run, that could easily cause problems.

Soon, they arrived at the brick kiln. The huge chimney at the top was puffing out wisps of gray-blue smoke, and the air was thick with the unique smell of firing bricks.

The Beastmen overseeing the kiln were bustling about energetically.

Some were stacking sun-dried clay bricks; some were feeding firewood into the kiln’s mouth.

Most were hauling out the finished, cooled green bricks and tiles.

Lyle Sutton stood hands on hips beside a tall stack of green bricks, talking to a Beastman in charge of keeping records.

Upon seeing his daughter and Kian come over, he instantly broke into a smile and called out in his booming voice, "Luna! Just in time—come have a look! This batch turned out even better than last year’s!"

As he spoke, he pointed to the pile of green bricks beside him.

"Okay."

Luna replied with a smile, walked over, and casually picked up a green brick to inspect.

The brick was a bluish-gray, hard and heavy—definitely top quality.

She also glanced at the stacked tiles nearby; their edges were neat and the glaze was even. Satisfied, she nodded, "You’ve worked hard, Dad. Were you able to count everything up? Did we get enough for all the tribes’ orders?"

"Yes, yes, we’ve got enough."

The record-keeping Beastman nodded quickly, charcoal in hand marking numbers on a Beast Skin Scroll. "The Wolf Tribe will keep some for ourselves; the rest are all here. The Deer Tribe, The Raging Lion Tribe, The Bear Tribe, The Eagle Tribe, The Ox Tribe... they’ve all got their shares sorted as agreed. Once everything’s packed onto carts, we’ll have Beastmen deliver to each tribe in batches."

Luna felt reassured upon hearing this.

Something crossed her mind, and she couldn’t help but add, "All the tribes don’t have a clue about building houses. When transporting green bricks and tiles, assign at least two Beastmen who understand construction to each tribe. And make sure you keep a clear record of the accounts."

"I’ve already arranged that,"

Lyle smiled at her. "We’ve picked out the right people—not exactly experts, but they definitely know how to build. Just waiting for everything to be loaded up and ready to go."

Kian had been listening quietly at the side, then suddenly frowned and spoke up. "About the transport—I think we need to be extra careful."

The two turned to look at him.

Kian’s foxlike eyes narrowed, and his fingertips unconsciously rubbed at his sleeve. "It’s early spring—the journey is long, and we’re moving a massive batch of high-value green bricks and tiles. Tempting targets. The Wolf Tribe may have a strong reputation these days, with no one daring to provoke them, but there’s always someone lurking in the shadows. Especially after taking a beating—the Winged Tiger Tribe—and especially the Swine-Dog Tribe, who already live by looting and just got hit with harsh penalties. There’s always the chance they’ll take the risk to rob us midway."

Lyle frowned. "Would they dare?"

"Of course, they wouldn’t dare do it openly. But if they disguise themselves as wandering Beastmen and attack us on the road, who could say?"

Kian spoke calmly, face giving nothing away.

Lyle and Luna both fell into deep thought.

He had to admit Kian had thought this through.

This load of bricks and tiles was huge and valuable. If it got robbed along the way, that’d be a massive loss.

"Besides, even if they don’t rob us directly, they could cause problems behind the scenes."

Kian added, his eyes dark. "For example, putting obstacles on the road to delay our delivery time, or tampering with the tiles so that by the time they reach the tribes, they’re just a pile of shards."

Luna’s face changed slightly; she immediately thought of a solution. "Then let Corbin, Rhys, Zeke, and Malachi deliver them personally. Let’s see who has the guts to try anything."

Kian looked at her approvingly. "That’s exactly what I was thinking, Luna. Smart as ever."

With those guys around, even a major ambush wouldn’t be a problem.

Plus, it would be a good opportunity to show off the Wolf Tribe’s strength to the other tribes.

Lyle laughed loudly, clearly having no objection.

He thought of Kian’s position.

He cleared his throat awkwardly. "Um... Kian, maybe you’d better not go. Let someone else take your place."

Kian looked at Lyle, half-smiling. "Father-in-law, are you looking down on me? Think I’m too weak to go with them?"

Lyle was startled, looking embarrassed.

Of course that wasn’t it. Kian might not be as strong as his other sons-in-law, but he was still incredibly formidable. How could anyone call that weak?

It was just that, as the Beast King, he’d draw too much attention if he personally escorted the goods.

Soren and Mael Valerius held even higher status than Kian, but since they came from Aetheria, nobody’d gossip about them the same way.

"That’s not what I meant. It’s just, as Beast King, you going out personally to escort cargo... it wouldn’t look good if word got out."

Lyle said, still looking awkward.

Kian chuckled, brushing off imaginary dust from his sleeve with his long fingers. "Father-in-law, you’re overthinking it. I may be Beast King, but I’m still Luna’s Beast Husband. What others think doesn’t bother me. Plus, I’m getting bored staying here all the time. I’d rather take the opportunity to get out and about."

Luna immediately understood he was hoping to use this trip to find an opportunity for a Foundation Establishment breakthrough.

She thought for a moment and didn’t object—getting out and about was a good chance to gain experience anyway.

And with Kian along, she felt more at ease.

When lunchtime rolled around,

Luna brought up the matter to Corbin, Rhys, Zeke, Malachi, Soren, and Mael Valerius.

The Beast Husbands all agreed without objection.

They’d been cultivating indoors all winter during the snow season; going out for a walk would be a good way to stretch their legs.

Seeing the men agree, she was naturally delighted.

Then, as if performing a magic trick, she whipped out the remaining six Flying Swords and copied versions of the Jinghong Sword Technique, handing them out one by one.

The silver one went to Corbin Crowley, black to Rhys Blackwood, green to Zeke Veridian, purple to Malachi Arcanus, red to Soren Phoenix, and gold to Mael Valerius.

Kian had already gotten his Flying Sword and Sword Technique that morning, so no need to give him more now.

Seven Flying Swords, all the same in quality and shape—only the colors were different.

This was the first time Corbin, Rhys, and the others had ever owned Magic Artifact-level Flying Swords—they were overjoyed.

Ordinary iron tools were already considered extremely fearsome weapons on The Beast World Continent, never mind Magic Artifact Flying Swords—these kinds of legendary swords were one of a kind.

Especially since Luna gave them out herself, making it all the more meaningful.

The Beast Husbands were all tactful enough not to ask where the Magic Artifact Flying Swords and Sword Techniques had come from.

They’d long known Luna had her secrets.

If it was something she could talk about, she would’ve told them already. If not, it just meant it had to remain a secret.

Why press the matter and make Luna uncomfortable?

Sunlight spilled through the clouds, bathing the earth in gold.

After lunch, Zeke and Malachi eagerly took their new Flying Swords up the back mountain, clearly wanting to practice Sword Flight.

Watching Soren and the others flying overhead used to make them jealous as hell.

Too bad their true forms were wolves with no wings—they could never fly before.

Finally, now they could fly.

Corbin, Rhys, Soren, and Mael Valerius already knew how to fly, so weren’t quite as desperate.

Still, they each brought their Flying Swords up the mountain as well.

Flying in beast form and flying in human form were two different things.

Practicing Sword Flight was part of it—plus, they wanted to test how powerful the Flying Swords really were.

Kian, meanwhile, returned to his room to study the Jinghong Sword Technique.

Even though he hadn’t reached Foundation Establishment yet, comprehending the technique early could only help him.

Three days later, the motorcade was ready to go.

Corbin, Rhys, Kian, Zeke, Malachi, Soren, and Mael Valerius each led a team to different tribes, each one with a differently colored Flying Sword at his waist.

Anyone who didn’t know better would think they were a bunch of swordsmen.

Luna couldn’t help but twitch at the corner of her mouth, but she said nothing except to remind them to be careful on the road.

The teams set out in a lively, majestic procession.

She stood watching them for a while, thinking that with spring here, it was time to start preparing for reclaiming land and planting crops. She decided to go discuss it with Lyle.

She was halfway there when the system suddenly reminded her in her mind, "Host, you forgot something."

"Huh?"

She stopped in her tracks.

"The Dragon Clan’s ancestral worship ceremony is at the start of next month, which is about the same time as the farming work."

The system pointed out, "The timing clashes."

She suddenly remembered—so it did.

"System, do you have any suggestions?"

She asked as she walked.

The system laughed slyly, "You can just split it up, Host. Teach the tribe’s Beastmen to clear land and raise seedlings first. After you come back from the Dragon Clan, you can plant the rice. Farming isn’t something you finish in one or two days anyway."

Her eyes lit up. That was a good idea.

She stopped talking to the system and quickly made her way to Lyle’s side.
