Chapter 381 Heat Source Distribution in the Warehouse
Chapter 381 Heat Source Distribution in the Warehouse
Su Ming sneered, "Something good that will get you talking. Believe it or not, it only takes me three minutes to know everything I want."
The man in black stared intently at the syringe in Su Ming's hand, his breathing becoming increasingly rapid. He quietly struggled to free himself from his bonds, but found the nylon ropes unbreakable, holding nothing in place. Sweat dripped down his forehead, and fear built up within him.
"Calm down." Su Ming's voice was low, yet it carried a certain oppressive feeling that was impossible to ignore. "I have no patience, and I have no interest in wasting time with you. Once this thing penetrates, the effect will be more than just opening the mouth."
The man in black's Adam's apple rolled up and down, clearly wrestling with a fierce internal struggle. He knew that speaking would mean complete betrayal, and the liquid in the syringe might be even more horrifying than the punishment for betrayal itself. Elsewhere, his companion, who had been shot in the shoulder, gritted his teeth in pain, his gaze still filled with hostility.
Su Ming leaned forward and said in a chillingly calm tone, "Three seconds. If you don't speak, I'll attack you. Three, two—"
"Wait!" The man in black finally collapsed and shouted in a trembling voice, "Don't hit me, don't hit me... I say!"
Su Ming paused, twirling the syringe in his hand. His gaze fixed on the man in black like a hawk. "Very good, continue."
The man in black gasped and spoke quickly, "The thing in the box is an... experimental device. I don't know what it's used for. We were only sent to monitor and transport it. We don't know anything else!"
Su Ming's expression remained unchanged. He narrowed his eyes slightly, clearly disbelieving the answer. "Do you think I'll buy it?"
"I'm telling the truth!" The man in black almost pleaded, "Our mission is only to transport the goods, and we've never been told the specifics!"
"Then who was that person who came to check just now?" Su Ming quickly asked, "Why did she want to check the condition of the equipment?"
The man in black hesitated for a moment, but obviously didn't dare to hide it any further. "She is the person in charge of the equipment and belongs to another team. We are just peripheral personnel and really don't know much!"
Su Ming's gaze fell on his face, as if examining a worthless object. He exhaled softly and stood up, but did not put away the syringe.
"One last question," he said calmly, "where is the next stop for these things?"
The man in black tensed up, clearly unwilling to answer the question, but Su Ming didn't give him more time to think. The tip of the syringe in his hand slightly pierced the man's skin.
"East... the old dock in the eastern suburbs!" The man in black finally broke down and shouted the answer, "They'll take over there. We really don't know the specific plan!"
Su Ming nodded, seemingly grudgingly satisfied with the answer. He put the syringe back into his pocket, pushed the man in black to the ground, and said coldly, "Thank you for your cooperation."
He then quickly took the equipment out of the box, photographed every detail with his phone, and replaced the lid. Just then, Ajie's voice came through the headset: "Su Ming, the situation has changed. Two vehicles are approaching the warehouse. You don't have much time."
Su Ming frowned and quickly looked around. He assessed the warehouse's terrain and decided to evacuate quickly, but at the same time, he was secretly planning how to deal with the upcoming trouble.
"Understood, I'll get it done soon." He replied in a low voice.
Su Ming dragged the box back slowly, hiding it under an abandoned shelf in the corner. He then returned to the men in black, his gun pointed precisely at their heads.
"Listen carefully, I can let you go, but if anyone asks about what happened tonight, you'd better not remember a thing." His tone was as cold as a knife.
"Understood, we will never say anything nonsense!" The men in black nodded repeatedly, and even the injured one tried hard to agree.
Su Ming said nothing more. He grabbed a nearby bag, took some of the parts from the box, and then slipped out of the warehouse. He swiftly moved through the dark alleys, concealing himself silently. As Ajie's voice in his headphones continuously updated the external information, his movements became more precise.
When he finally managed to avoid patrols and reinforcements, he finally felt relieved. He found a secluded spot, spread the parts he had removed from the box on the ground, and began to examine them carefully.
The components were complex and unfamiliar, clearly not ordinary mechanical equipment. Su Ming examined them carefully with a flashlight, rapidly deconstructing and reconstructing every detail in his mind. His intuition told him that the secrets involved were far more complex than they appeared.
"Ajie, I need you to check the surveillance footage of the old dock in the eastern suburbs, especially what's happening tomorrow night." He picked up the phone and whispered.
Ajie responded quickly, "I understand. I'll do it right away. But what did you find?"
Su Ming stared at the parts in his hand, a hint of doubt and coldness flashing in his eyes. "I'm not sure yet, but it's definitely not simple."
For the next few hours, Su Ming hid in an abandoned hut, using the tools at hand to decipher the wiring and modules within the parts. His movements were swift and precise, his eyes focused, as if he were dismantling a bomb that could explode at any moment.
When the first chip was removed, Su Ming's heart skipped a beat. It was an implantable control chip, typically used in high-end equipment, not ordinary experimental devices.
"What on earth is Lin Feng planning?" He whispered to himself, his eyes gradually becoming serious.
At this moment, he felt the complexity of the situation had surpassed his expectations. Every move Lin Feng made was filled with intrigue, as if guiding a larger situation. Su Ming took a deep breath, carefully stored the chip, and made up his mind—he had to rush to the old dock first and intercept more clues.
Ajie's voice came through the headset again: "I've secured surveillance access to the old dock in the eastern suburbs. I'll provide you with real-time information. When are you planning to take action?"
Su Ming stood up, a cold smile on his face. "Now."
Su Ming glanced out the broken window, making sure the area was clear. He put his tools and chip back into his bag, adjusted his headphones, and whispered, "I need a clean car. Can the garage arrange one?"
Ajie quickly tapped away on the keyboard over the headset. After a few seconds, he replied, "There's an abandoned truck about 500 meters to the east. I can remotely unlock its system. It's not brand new, but it's inconspicuous enough."
Su Ming nodded, "That's enough, do it as soon as possible."
He quickly left the hut and walked through the dim alley, his steps light and alert. The silence around him was unsettling, as if the air was filled with the scent of danger. Su Ming's eyes swept every corner where an enemy might hide, his fingers always lightly resting on the buckle of the holster at his waist.
Not far away, an abandoned truck lay hidden in a patch of tall weeds, its mottled exterior covered in rust. Su Ming parted the grass and carefully opened the door. A musty smell hit him. He frowned slightly, but didn't pause. He tossed his bag onto the passenger seat and quickly started the engine.
"The engine is still pretty quiet, how long can it last?" he asked as he checked the rearview mirror.
"The oil is enough for you to run 20 kilometers. I have adjusted the brake system, so it's not a big problem." Ajie explained on the other end with a hint of complacency in his tone.
"Okay, I need an alternative route." Su Ming whispered, "If they set up a blockade around the dock, I don't want to be trapped inside."
"Understood." The sound of Ajie typing on the keyboard rang out again. "The backup route has been sent to your device. Remember, the sewer in the south can lead to the warehouse area of the dock, but it must be carefully monitored and patrolled."
Su Ming glanced at his watch. It was almost midnight, leaving less than five hours until the enemy's planned operation. He took a deep breath, gripped the steering wheel, and the truck slowly drove away into the night.
On the way, his mind raced. The secrets hidden behind those components, as well as Lin Feng's ultimate intentions, enveloped him like a thick fog. He couldn't stop thinking, especially the complex codes on the chip, which seemed to hint at a deeper connection.
"Ajie, do you think Lin Feng will show up at the dock in person?" Su Ming suddenly asked.
Ajie was silent for a moment, then said, "It's unlikely. He will probably send a higher-level agent to handle it. If that's the case, you have to be extra careful. People of this level are not easy to deal with."
Su Ming's lips curled up into a cold smile. "The more dangerous it is, the more we can dig out. I need everyone to be out so that I can clean up the mess in peace."
The truck stopped beside an abandoned factory. Su Ming turned off the engine, slung his bag over his shoulder, and began walking toward the dock. He chose a hidden path, his footsteps almost silent, each step carefully calculated.
When he was less than a kilometer from the dock, he noticed several idle vehicles on both sides of the road, clearly surveillance points. He sneered, bent down, and jumped into the roadside drainage ditch, starting to use the weeds and shadows to continue forward.
"Su Ming, your position has been exposed." Ajie's voice suddenly sounded in the headset, with a hint of urgency in his tone.
Su Ming stopped in his tracks and glanced around cautiously, "What's going on?"
"I just intercepted their communication. They discovered traces of your previous actions and are now mobilizing personnel to block the dock area."
Su Ming's brow furrowed, and he cursed inwardly. He quickly adjusted his strategy, abandoning the main route and instead circling to the southern sewer entrance. His fingers instinctively reached for the pistol handle at his waist. His heartbeat quickened, but his mind remained calmer.
The entrance to the sewer was blocked by a rusty iron door. Su Ming used a tool to gently pry open the lock and walked down the slide-like ramp into the damp underground passage. It was pitch black all around, and only the dim light of the flashlight could barely see the road ahead.
The sound of water beneath his feet was soft and lingering. Su Ming held his breath and slowed down each step. He knew that the sewers were likely a blind spot that the enemy had not yet deployed, but this situation could also disappear in a flash.
"Ajie, I have entered the sewer. Give me an exit location." Su Ming said in a low voice.
"Two hundred meters ahead, there's an abandoned inspection hatch. You can approach the rear of the warehouse from there." Ajie answered quickly.
Su Ming nodded, picking up his pace. His heart was like a taut bowstring, and every movement was cautious, trying not to make any unnecessary noise. In the pitch-black passage, his breathing was particularly clear, as if blending in with the sound of dripping water around him.
When he finally reached the inspection entrance, he found a faint light leaking in through the metal fence. He subconsciously stopped, crawled on the ground, and observed the situation at the exit with a flashlight.
A figure appeared vaguely in the light, seemingly inspecting the area around the warehouse. Su Ming gripped his gun tightly, his mind rapidly calculating time and a plan of action.
"Target number?" he asked in a low voice.
Ajie replied after a few seconds: "One, there is no other support nearby."
"Very good." Su Ming sneered, drawing his gun and silently approaching the exit. His movements were as swift and stealthy as a cheetah, and the figure in the light was completely unaware of the approaching danger.
When he reached the exit, he decisively pulled the trigger. The dull sound was almost imperceptible in the night, and the man fell to the ground without even a chance to scream.
Su Ming dragged the body into a dark place and examined its belongings, discovering a rough map of the route. The map marked the core area of the warehouse and several obvious assembly points. He scanned the marked points and memorized them quickly.
"Ajie, I need to do a real-time analysis of the structure inside the warehouse." He said as he unlocked the side door of the warehouse.
"Give me five seconds." Ajie replied.
Su Ming gently pushed open the door, and the cold air from the warehouse rushed in. He was surrounded by huge containers. Without wasting any time, he quickly snuck along the wall, approaching the core area marked on the map.
Inside the warehouse, the cold air carried a rusty scent, tinged with the faint smell of engine oil. Su Ming leaned against a stack of containers, slowly catching his breath. He didn't act immediately, but instead spent a few seconds sensing his surroundings. This quiet environment often concealed a greater danger. He gently stroked the handle of the gun at his waist, and the touch of his fingertips on the cold metal brought a sense of peace.
"Ajie, what is the distribution of heat sources in the warehouse?" Su Ming whispered, his tone low but full of urgency.
Ajie's voice came, "Thermal imaging shows four active targets. Two are on top of the container in front of you on the left, and the other two are wandering around the central area. Be careful, they may have sniper devices."
Su Ming looked up at the shadows atop the container. The light was dim, but he could sense a lurking threat. The two hidden snipers had clearly been stationed at a commanding height, allowing them to monitor the entire warehouse. If he acted rashly, he would only be exposed to the incoming fire.
"I understand." He replied in a low voice, then took out the micro-reflector embedded in the watch and carefully extended it from the wall to capture the faint movement in the light.
