Chapter 426 Time is still passing
"Damn it!" Su Ming's heart nearly leaped into his throat. He immediately realized his hiding place might have been exposed, perhaps discovered by the enemy. He didn't dare wait any longer, quickly adjusting his stance, ready to burst forth at top speed in the next second, searching for an opportunity to break through.
However, at this moment, a clear sound of footsteps came from the other direction, completely breaking the silence outside. It seemed that someone else had entered the area, and the enemy seemed to be gathering. Su Ming frowned slightly, and the uneasiness in his heart surged again, with a vague sense of unease.
Su Ming's palms were slightly sweaty, and his heartbeat began to accelerate, as if an invisible pressure was pressing down on him, making his breathing feel heavier. His back was pressed against the iron gate, and every sound around him ignited his inner vigilance. The footsteps outside had faded away, then returned quickly, making it impossible to discern their true intentions. The enemy seemed to be getting closer, but they didn't immediately attack. This unusual behavior made Su Ming even more nervous.
"I can't wait any longer." He told himself silently.
He knew he couldn't let the enemy continue to waste time like this. Regardless of whether they discovered him or not, waiting would only complicate the situation. If the enemy discovered him and prepared to attack, he had to seize the initiative. However, if the enemy was merely probing the surroundings, Su Ming didn't want to rush in. A rash action could lead to the failure of the entire plan.
A fierce glint flashed in his eyes, and he decided to employ a deceptive tactic. He relaxed his tension slightly, assuming a still, silent posture, hoping to trick the enemy into thinking he had given up resistance. Su Ming mentally recalled the camouflage and reaction techniques Zheng Yao had taught him, how to act in ways the enemy wouldn't expect.
"They seem to want me to reveal a flaw..." Su Ming analyzed in his mind, trying to comprehend the current situation. "If they feel that I have dropped my guard, or if I think they have retreated, I can create an opportunity and turn the tables on them."
He glanced down at the handle of his gun and adjusted his stance slightly. At that moment, footsteps could be heard again outside the iron gate, their pace quick and even somewhat unsteady. Su Ming's mind stirred, and he made an immediate decision. He aimed at the faint gap and noticed a dark figure quietly approaching. His eyes locked on the figure, judging its pace and breathing.
"The opportunity has arrived." Su Ming took a deep breath, remained calm, and made a new judgment in his mind. "If I continue to hide, the enemy will be more likely to detect my position and make more threatening moves. Now, I can't wait any longer."
He gently let go of the gun handle and adjusted the communicator to the lowest volume, preparing for the worst. He knew that once he made this choice, there would be no turning back.
"I'll decide." He muttered to himself, his eyes becoming more determined. Then he suddenly pushed open a corner of the iron gate, quickly slipped out a short distance, and hid his body in the shadows nearby.
"Hey!" he suddenly shouted, a hint of impatience in his voice, "What the hell are you doing? I'm here, what do you want?"
At this point, he deliberately raised his voice, his tone full of provocation, as if the enemy had already exposed their whereabouts and he was now ready to stop forbearing. This tone was both angry and tinged with disdain, making him hope that the enemy would hear his temptation and the temptation of deliberate exposure.
The shadow paused, as if not expecting such a direct reaction. Su Ming's action had clearly disrupted the enemy's rhythm. The opponent seemed momentarily unable to react and stopped walking. Then, there was silence for a few seconds.
"He really dares to shout?" The person standing behind the black shadow whispered with a hint of shock in his tone.
This short sentence gave Su Ming greater confidence. He knew that everything he was doing at this moment was to disrupt the enemy's original plan and take the initiative back from them in a way that was completely unexpected.
"What do you want?" Su Ming spoke again, this time with a hint of sneer in his voice, his tone still full of provocation. "Since you've discovered me, just say it directly. There's no need to beat around the bush."
The shadowy figure was stunned for a moment, seemingly confused by Su Ming's sudden action. He hadn't expected him to reveal his location so easily, and his tone was filled with uncertainty: "What are you doing here?"
Su Ming glanced around calmly, outwardly remaining composed, but his mind was racing. He knew the key now lay in the enemy's reaction. Whether the enemy had fallen for his delusion, whether they were already bewildered, would determine his next move.
"What are you doing?" Su Ming pretended to be confused. "I'm right here. I don't know what you're planning to do." He deliberately dragged out his tone when he spoke, as if he was putting psychological pressure on the enemy.
The shadow took a few more steps, seemingly approaching him, and asked tentatively, "Who are you?"
Su Ming's lips curled up slightly, and he secretly thought, "Victory!" He was almost certain that the enemy had entered his circle of confusion, beginning to show doubt and confusion. The man was clearly hesitating whether to continue advancing or stop to investigate thoroughly. Su Ming reacted quickly at this moment, a sneer rising from his lips, and suddenly widened the distance between him and the enemy.
"Who I am is none of your business," he said coldly. His voice no longer carried the provocation from before, but was deeper and more threatening. "But if you continue to approach, you will bear the consequences yourself."
Before he finished speaking, he suddenly leaped into the air, swiftly disappearing into a dim corner. Su Ming's movements were swift and silent, almost blending into the darkness. The enemy had completely unprepared for his drastic reaction at this moment, and their earlier confusion deepened. Su Ming, however, used these few seconds to vanish without a trace.
The shadowy figure outside was stunned for a long moment. After Su Ming completely disappeared, he finally reacted and whispered, "He... is gone!"
At this moment, Su Ming had already hidden in a dark corner nearby, leaning against the wall to steady his breathing, his eyes fixed on the enemy's every move through the cracks. He knew that the enemy had fallen into his circle of confusion, and now was the time for him to regain control of the situation.
"This trick actually worked." Su Ming breathed a sigh of relief. He knew full well that the core of the deception method was to disrupt the enemy's judgment, put pressure on them, and force them to make the wrong decision. He had taken advantage of this very fact.
The enemy had clearly begun to split up, with several of them discussing in low voices. It seemed they weren't preparing for direct action, but were instead consumed by doubts about Su Ming's identity and intentions. This gave Su Ming more time to think and plan his next move.
"This is the opportunity I really need." He stared at the movements outside, and gradually a clearer plan came into his mind.
Su Ming crouched steadily in the corner, his body almost blending into the darkness. He held his breath, his heartbeat still pounding. The intense action just now had given him a brief respite, but that didn't mean he could let his guard down. The enemy was still roaming around, his every move being quickly detected. This was a game of wits, a battle of wits. If he lost even one step, there would be no return.
"They'll definitely come in." Su Ming stared at the movements outside, his mind racing. The enemy's reaction was slower than he expected. It seemed that the "confusable method" had indeed worked. At least, they didn't immediately choose to attack. Instead, they paused, hesitated, and began to analyze his previous actions.
"That's good. It gives me plenty of time." Su Ming took a deep breath, his mind rapidly analyzing the possible scenarios. He knew the enemy was now suspicious, already caught up in speculation about his identity and purpose. He could even imagine the whispers and exchange of opinions among those outside, expending their energy in this brief moment.
"They're hesitating." Su Ming sneered inwardly, a glint of confidence flashing in his eyes. He knew that hesitation was an opportunity. The enemy hadn't made a decisive decision at this moment, which provided him with room to counterattack.
He closed his eyes slightly, quickly gathering his thoughts and recalling the strategies Zheng Yaoxian had taught him: create chaos, force the enemy to expose their weaknesses, and then strike back with lightning speed. Su Ming's plan was to completely let the enemy down, and then use this opportunity to lure them into his trap.
"Now is the time," he muttered to himself, then, without hesitation, he quietly moved from the shadows, tiptoeing closer to the darkness outside. There was no sound, his steps as light as a shadow, without a trace of breath. Everything around him remained eerily quiet, with only the occasional faint sound of wind in the distance and the rattle of glass on the upper floors reminding him that time was still passing.
As Su Ming circled to the side and carefully observed the figures approaching, he took a deep breath and felt a sense of calm. At this moment, he was ready to completely bring the enemy under his control.
Outside, the deep voice sounded again, with a hint of tentativeness: "Where is he? Was he scared away?"
"If that's the case, he's truly audacious." Another voice sneered, seemingly disregarding Su Ming. "Wasn't that just shouting a sign of blind impulsiveness? We didn't see him get far. He either died in our hands or escaped." His tone was filled with contempt.
"Not necessarily. We should be careful and not be fooled by him." A voice sounded more cautious, with a slightly nervous tone.
