Chapter 517 All Misfortunes Have Arrived
Chapter 517 All Misfortunes Have Arrived
Fang Hui carried Xu Yu'an straight into the police station and told the police about the terrorist bombing incident, but she concealed the fact that the Xu couple had suddenly exploded and died.
First, the police wouldn't believe it if I told them; second, Xu Yu'an is still here, so I can't let him know these things.
After calming the frightened Xu Yu'an down, she borrowed a phone to call Xu Xiao, who was overseas.
Unfortunately, the plane she was on was shot down by missiles during the war.
In just one day, Xu Yu'an, who originally had a happy family, became an orphan. Fortunately, her mother had been doing charity work, and good deeds were rewarded, as several orphanages were willing to take them in.
Fang Hui didn't nitpick and randomly chose an orphanage.
The dean intended to take extra care of them, but the unsuspecting children thought it was favoritism and thus isolated them somewhat.
The most egregious of them all was the boy named Wu Wei, who was always verbally abusive and bullied Xu Yu'an until she cried.
"Your dad and mom don't want you anymore. You're just like us, an unwanted child. Otherwise, why would they have abandoned you here?"
He always used the most vicious tone to expose the lies Fang Hui had woven for Xu Yu'an.
Finally, on a stormy night, Fang Hui carried a pillow and walked towards the sleeping Wu Wei.
Without the slightest hesitation, Fang Hui lifted the pillow and pressed it down on his face.
The roar outside the window drowned out his sobs.
The children around them were all fast asleep, and no one noticed that a life was quietly slipping away.
The person beneath her struggled less and less until their limbs went limp, at which point Fang Hui, panting heavily, released her grip.
That was the first time she had killed someone, and strangely, Luo Shiyu couldn't see any fear on her face.
"Hehe~ Hehe~" She laughed, released the zombie worm from her sleeve, ate the corpse, and went back to sleep as if nothing had happened.
Due to the war, power supply was intermittent; that night, there was a power outage, and the room's security camera recorded no evidence. A thunderstorm also struck, leaving no footprints of outsiders on the road.
A child simply vanished into thin air. The hospital reported it to the police, but because the police had too many other matters to handle, and because cases of missing children were all too common, the matter was dropped.
A few days later, a couple came to the orphanage wanting to adopt Xu Yu'an. The two people were Lu Qi and Shi Ying.
The two women had completely changed; they were dressed in various designer brands and drove luxury cars to the villa with their two children.
As soon as she got home, Shi Ying locked the two children in the attic and wouldn't let them out. Every day, she would put food in through the small window like she was feeding dogs.
Strangely, the bowls and chopsticks used for them were all disposable. The servants who brought the meals would wait for them to finish eating and then take away the used items.
"Sister Huihui, I don't want to be here, I want to go home."
This is what Xu Yu'an said most often.
"Don't be afraid, I will take you away from here, as long as there is a chance..."
The opportunity Fang Hui mentioned didn't keep them waiting long; Xu Yu'an developed a high fever.
Fang Hui pounded on the locked door and called for help, but her voice did not attract the servants. Instead, a bespectacled boy who looked to be fourteen or fifteen years old came to her aid.
Luo Shiyu recognized the person at a glance.
[Lu Jinchuan.]
His jet-black hair was slightly curly, and his eyes held a look of inquiry.
"You guys... disturbed my studies." There was no blame in his voice, but rather it sounded like he was testing something.
"Sorry, I didn't know this villa wasn't soundproof."
Lu Jinchuan ignored Fang Hui's words and continued, "My parents aren't here."
"what?"
"Tell me what's wrong."
My brother has a fever.
Lu Jinchuan didn't say anything, turned around and left the attic.
He returned with the keys shortly after.
He opened the attic door and went inside, where he saw Xu Yu'an lying on the floor, delirious with a high fever, muttering "Mom" under her breath.
Lu Jinchuan walked over, picked up Xu Yu'an by the back of his neck like he was hugging a pet, pulled him into his arms, and led him to the family doctor.
While receiving an IV drip, Xu Yu'an clung tightly to Lu Jinchuan's clothes, calling out "Mom" in a daze.
"I'm not your mother, little brat. How am I supposed to do my homework if you don't let go of my hand?"
Lu Jinchuan pinched Xu Yu'an's rosy little face. It was soft and hot, and felt much more interesting to touch than a cat or dog.
"Never mind, I have too much homework to do anyway."
Why does Lu Jinchuan seem a little arrogant?
When Shi Ying returned from shopping, she found Lu Jinchuan not studying in his room. She angrily confronted him, pointed her finger at him, and gave him a dressing down, completely disregarding whether anyone was around.
"What are you doing here? Instead of studying in your room, are you planning to be supported by me for the rest of my life? Just like your useless father, how could I have given birth to a son like you!"
Lu Jinchuan ignored the furious Shi Ying and stroked Xu Yu'an's hair with his hand. He liked the feel of it; it was fluffy like a small animal.
“Mom, there are sick people here. Don’t always yell like a shrew.”
"Slap!" A crisp slap followed by the sound of glasses hitting the ground.
Lu Jinchuan seemed oblivious to the pain, bent down to pick up his glasses from the ground, put them back on, and calmly said, "I'm going to do my homework," before leaving.
Shi Ying's gaze shifted to Xu Yu'an on the bed, and Fang Hui quickly stepped in front of him.
"You're quite the protector, even though you're a dog."
Fang Hui ignored her.
"Heh, keep an eye on that kid, don't let him die." Shi Ying instructed the doctor beside her before leaving as well.
Xu Yu'an, whose condition had improved, was locked in the attic again, but this time, the person who brought them food was Lu Jinchuan.
He squatted down and pushed the food through the dog hole at the door, then stood in front of the glass wall next to him and watched Xu Yu'an finish his meal.
The way he looked at Xu Yu'an was hard to describe; it was like a tourist feeding animals at a zoo, watching him eat what he had prepared, and feeling that sense of satisfaction.
A few days later, he seemed to be no longer satisfied with feeding them through the window. He would always take advantage of his parents not being home to let them out and hug and knead Xu Yu'an.
"Brother...my face hurts~"
"Oh, you actually know how to call someone 'brother' now. Looks like you've had plenty of 'brothers' before."
“An’an doesn’t have a brother, she only has a sister named Huihui.”
Lu Jinchuan glanced at Fang Hui, who was staring at him the whole time, then looked away indifferently and smiled at Xu Yu'an.
"My name is Lu Jinchuan."
"Brother Tsugawa!"
"sensible."
While Lu Jinchuan was teasing Xu Yu'an, Fang Hui quietly picked up the fruit knife on the table and hid it in her sleeve.
Shi Ying learned from the servants that Lu Jinchuan had released them, and she flew into a rage again, her voice so loud that it could be heard in the attic.
Xu Yu'an was so frightened that he huddled in Fang Hui's arms and trembled.
"Sister Huihui, I want to go home, I miss my mom..."
"It's okay, it's okay, it will pass."
Fang Hui stroked Xu Yu'an with one hand, while gripping a fruit knife in the other. Her eyes were fixed on the door like a hawk's; anyone who opened the door would die by her blade.
