Chapter 1965 1966: Signing the Contract
Chapter 1965 1966: Signing the Contract
"Divine Doctor Ling, you came at just the right time. Our two sides have basically finished talking and we're just about to sign the contract."
After he finished, the fat boss turned to the person next to him and said, "Vice President Zhang, is the contract ready? While Mr. Ling is here as a witness, let's hurry up and sign with President Qin."
Everyone in the room was a bit stunned. Just now the deal had already collapsed, and Ling Zhenfei had only been in here for a few minutes. He'd said just a few words, and somehow the deal was done.
Both sides were in a good mood and very straightforwardly signed the contract.
Qin Lan didn't say anything, but the way she looked at Ling Zhenfei was already different.
After the contract was signed, Ling Zhenfei opened the wine he'd brought and said, "Congratulations to both groups on a successful negotiation. This bottle is cellar-aged wine from that little wine cellar we used to have at Xishan Manor. Today I brought one for everyone to taste together."
The fat boss laughed and said, "Since Mr. Ling says it's good wine, then it must be good wine."
Everyone poured themselves a glass and toasted together.
"Good wine, really good wine, tastes great."
People kept talking about it. Although the wine they'd been drinking earlier was also Hundred Flowers Drunk, everyone said the wine Ling Zhenfei brought tasted even better.
Ling Zhenfei sneered inwardly. In fact, it was all from the same batch; where did any "cellar-aged" come from? That wine cellar at Xishan Manor hadn't even been used that long—how could there be anything truly aged in it?
After drinking, Ling Zhenfei stood up and said, "I've been here quite a while. I still have friends outside, so I won't stay any longer. When I have time, I'll invite everyone out separately."
The fat boss said, "Mr. Ling, no need to be so polite, we already feel bad enough for taking up so much of your time."
Qin Lan insisted on seeing him off and followed Ling Zhenfei out of the private room.
The two exchanged a smile. Qin Lan lowered her voice and said, "Brother, I'll be waiting for you tonight."
Ling Zhenfei paused for a moment. He felt he might not have the time, but seeing Qin Lan's expression, he couldn't bring himself to refuse.
He glanced at Qin Lan. Her eyes were a bit hazy; she must have drunk quite a lot in order to clinch this contract.
Ling Zhenfei said, "Look at you, you're almost drunk."
Qin Lan stubbornly said, "I'm fine. I'll be waiting for you tonight." After saying that, she turned around, ready to leave.
But she was stopped by Ling Zhenfei calling out to her. Qin Lan turned back again, and Ling Zhenfei placed his hand on top of her head.
Qin Lan didn't know what he meant by that, but she didn't resist.
Yet after just a moment, she felt that her head, which had still been a bit dizzy just now, suddenly became incomparably clear.
Ling Zhenfei took his hand away and said, "Alright, go back. And drink less."
Qin Lan nodded, gave a soft "mm," and walked back.
Ling Zhenfei returned again to the table by the window. Sun Wei and Zhang Zhenlin were drinking, while Murong Liuqing had been staring at him the whole time. Clearly, she had seen everything that just happened.
Seeing him come back, Sun Wei said, "Hurry up and drink, we're just missing you. And that Fairy Drunkenness of yours, hurry up and bring it out, I want to be an Immortal for once too."
Ling Zhenfei had no choice but to pull out another bottle of Fairy Drunkenness, and the three of them started drinking.
Murong Liuqing looked at the three of them in disbelief and said, "I really don't get what's so great about that lousy stuff. After you drink it you don't even know who you are anymore."
Sun Wei laughed and said, "That's where you don't understand. If you haven't drunk it, you don't know what's good about wine."
Murong Liuqing retorted, "Who hasn't drunk it? That crap tastes awful."
After saying that, Murong Liuqing stood up. "You guys drink, I'm going to rest. You'd better turn in early too; we have to hit the road for Xianling Mountain early tomorrow."
At this point, Murong Liuqing glanced at Ling Zhenfei and said, "You don't need to sleep early, you've still got a woman waiting for you."
With that, Murong Liuqing turned and left. Apparently, she had heard the conversation between Ling Zhenfei and Qin Lan at the private room door just now.
Ling Zhenfei was helpless and quickly had a passing waiter take Murong Liuqing up to a room.
Sun Wei and Zhang Zhenlin both snorted at Murong Liuqing's departing back.
"That woman's mood swings are insane. Someone who doesn't know better would think somebody stepped on her tail."
Zhang Zhenlin added, "Exactly. When it comes to finding a wife in the future, you really have to be careful. If I married someone like that, I'd want to drop dead."
Ling Zhenfei just smiled faintly and didn't say anything, and kept drinking with the two of them.
By this time, everyone from the private room had come out. Because of the way Ling Zhenfei had stirred things up earlier, people on both sides had drunk about as much as they could handle.
Fortunately, they all had drivers. The drivers had been waiting outside the whole time, so there was no need to worry about how they'd get home.
The fat boss could barely keep his eyes open and needed others to support him as he walked, but he was still mumbling something about Divine Doctor Ling under his breath.
Ling Zhenfei was still quite worried about Qin Lan, but then he happened to see that her steps were very steady.
Just now, Ling Zhenfei had already forced all the alcohol out of Qin Lan's body, so she was completely fine.
Watching Qin Lan's light footsteps, Ling Zhenfei felt quite pleased. At least Qin Lan had successfully completed this mission.
Someone like Qin Lan usually wouldn't come out to negotiate herself. Negotiations were handled by dedicated people—how could they possibly have Qin Lan show up in person?
Since Qin Lan had come, that meant this person was absolutely not simple, and this negotiation was extremely important. Precisely because he'd realized that, Ling Zhenfei had been willing to help Qin Lan.
On the way downstairs, Qin Lan turned her head to look at Ling Zhenfei. The expression in her eyes said it all.
What Qin Lan meant was naturally very obvious; there's no way Ling Zhenfei didn't get it.
Soon, Ling Zhenfei's phone chimed.
He hadn't checked his phone in a long time. If he did, he wouldn't even be able to get through all the text messages on it.
But he knew this text was from Qin Lan.
He secretly glanced at it. It was an address.
By now it was already very late, and both Zhang Zhenlin and Sun Wei were too drunk to keep going.
Ling Zhenfei had long since had everything arranged. He had someone take the two of them upstairs to rest.
Downstairs was the restaurant; upstairs was the staff dorm area. This was a feature of all Xi Shan Restaurants.
The staff could of course choose not to live here; Xi Shan Group would provide a housing allowance.
Although many people chose to live outside, some newly assigned employees, or those working late shifts, would still choose to stay here.
So the rooms upstairs were quite sufficient.
After settling Sun Wei and the others, Ling Zhenfei walked out of Xi Shan Restaurant.
At the door, Luo Juan looked at him and asked, "Boss Ling, it's so late—are you heading out?"
Ling Zhenfei nodded and said, "Yeah. Is there something wrong?"
Luo Juan said, "It's pretty late, I'll have someone drive you."
Ling Zhenfei said, "No need, I'm just heading home, it's close."
After saying that, he didn't continue talking to Luo Juan and walked out.
Outside, the sky was pitch-black. Ling Zhenfei flagged down a cab and headed straight for the address in the text message.
The place turned out to be a residential complex, and a high-end one at that.
